"It's likely that there will be a fair amount of customers who got rebates who won't be getting them anymore," Daruty said.

F**k you again, loyal customers! ,says tracknet with a smile.

Its simply amaizing how these guys are trying to alienate as many people as fast as humanly possible. What these bean counters dont know is there is NO ONE going to take the place of the customers they lose. They can squeeze their margins and profits all they want. They still dont understand WHO their customer is and that their business model is doomed to utter failure. Look at the strength of TVG and YOUBETs quarter without CDI. I know Ive adjusted to life without them quite well and wont ever go back. I know dozens of horeseplayers too that have left CDI for good

I still bet them, but they don't get a nickel of my handle. The sad thing is they would if they would make the choice even remotely close, i.e. the price, I'd happily bet in the pools. Until they do, screw them.

Headlines | Posted 8/1/2007, 6:42 pmhttp://www.drf.com/global/img/btn_print.gif (javascript:PrintThisPage();) TrackNet imposes a limit on rebate-shop policy

By MATT HEGARTY TrackNet Media, the simulcast marketing company owned by Churchill Downs Inc. and Magna Entertainment Corp., has reached an agreement with two prominent rebate shops that will prohibit the shops from awarding rebates to customers who do not bet more than $1 million a year.

The agreement is believed to be the first contractual arrangement between racetracks and rebate shops that seeks to restrict rebates to a betting outlet's biggest customers. Both of the rebate shops - Racing and Gaming Services in St. Kitts and Elite Turf Club in Curacao - have attracted bettors wagering hundreds of millions of dollars a year through rebate programs that give back a percentage of the takeout on each bet.

I've adjusted quite well to life without TrackNet and I expect that over time a lot of players are going to choose "secondary" tracks with a good rebate than CrapNet.

quoting from the article...
It is not clear what rebate percentages have been extended to Elite and RGS, as a query to a Churchill Downs spokeswoman was not immediately answered. It is also not clear if the $1-million threshold for rebates is higher or lower than previously extended to the ADWs.I thnik it's pretty clear that the previous threshold to earn a rebate was well under $1 million annually... making it pretty clear what their motives are.

and“Almost all industries – from casinos to airlines to credit card companies – offer incentives to their premium customers,” Scott Daruty, chief executive officer of TrackNet, said in a news release. “We at TrackNet recognize that such incentives are necessary in our industry as well. What complete and utter BS.

There were no minimums at all previously. I'll rephrase that; if there were I had never heard of them. I personally received rebates on lower volume than that.

Yea same here. With me it's not about the rebate issue, it's simply a business telling me that they don't want my business. I'm fine with that.

How will this effect companies like ehorse?
Will they be able to lay off their bets to RGS and will their clients still get rebates?
BTW can you explain the legality of this-I mean I'm sure it's legal-but how does it work? Is there any regulation and has Homeland Security ever looked at this?
Thanks is advance for providing us with Da Facts.

bet: You betcha! They act like they're the only game in town. Other than a small bet on the Derby, I didn't make a wager on Tracknet tracks all summer. All it takes is for every day players like ourselves to quit wagering on tracknet race tracks, and play the ones that are smart enough to send their signal to PTC, and Daruty, Evans, Troutman and their associates will be ancient memories.....

Tracks and the folks who run them.

The Spaghetti policy.

First they throw the "rebate shops are evil" piece against the wall.

That doesn't stick.

Then they attack offshore wagering, the real pirates, and lobby to get that changed, because if they are shut down people will flock to bet my 25% rakes and all will be well again!

Oops, that didn't work.

Now rebate shops are kinda evil, but not really. They are ok if you spend a million dollars a year. **

Let's see if that sticks.

** - Except in California. They are still considered 100% evil there.

Ellis Park must just love it that TrackNet controls the distribution of their signal. Today's interstate handle per equibase was only down about 25%, or about $700K, from the similar Thursday last year.

BTW, TVG and Youbet just keep humming long on the handle side. TVG up 5% in the 2Q and Youbet announced they are also up with details next week. 3Q should also be up for both given the strong starts at Del Mar and Saratoga and Monmouth is also looking good.

TVG meeds to come along on the exclusivity side, but TrackNet is a disaster. Perhaps if Magna goes into reorganization and the BK trustee is charged with maximizing revenues we will see the demise of Tracknet as we curently know it.

Daruty's statements on RGS and Elite are disgraceful.

A wager bet through XpressBet, twinspires, winticket and/or brisbet is a wager bet through TrackNet. Why bother to support such nonsense?

Just bet a million a year and you won't have anything to complain about.
