To the moderator or anyone else- these novicely written articles are my own, easier than worrying about copyright troubles on a forum. I write them up for other friends that I have (who at the moderator's request will remain nameless):):):) and they have some worthy info so I might as well share them with you guys too. They are written kinda rough on purpose so I don't get any complaints about lifting other writer's stuff. Wanna copy it and share it on other forums, ect.? Be my guest!

ASIATIC BOY RETURNS!!!
"Eez ee the best?"

I bet Argentina is cheering him on after losing their national hero Invasor.

This Wednesday Asiatic Boy will return to racing in the "Group" One Sussex Stakes in England. It is a mile race and the purse is 300,000 pounds. This is his first start since his overwhelming 9 1/2 length win over 12 other horses in the United Arab Emirates Derby in Dubai(in March 2007 and on dirt)

Not too consoling- "Toughest test yet", "unchartered waters" and "He's never beaten older horses" are comments his trainer has made. Despite a work over the turf (with none other than the exciting filly Irridescence) on Friday, a work his connections are all pleased with, his trainer is not sure how he'll handle the softer ground (turf) or "being run right handed". On his stable's website he comments that Asiatic Boy "might just be lacking a bit of match practice for the Sussex-it could count against him a little."

His competition may include- Possibly three Aidan O'Brien horses, definetly Excellent Art (St. James Palace Stakes winner), maybe Archipenko and Trinity College.

Ramonti (Queen Anne Stakes winner) and runner up in that race Jeremy.

Dark Islander (won Gr.ll Oak Tree Derby at Santa Anita)

Decardo(Grade lll winner)

Munaddam

ASIATIC BOY RETURNS!!!
"Eeez eee the best?"

Who is Asiastic Boy? Well, despite the very favorable reactions I have heard about him on this board ntra.com does not even have a bio for him.

He is from Argentina, his sire Not For Sale has an awful name(opinion)! Not For Sale ran 23 times (9-6-0) and earned $101,944. He also has the Irish stallion CARO as a great, great grandsire on his paternal side. I am not sure but I think I remember our resident pedigree experts discussing CARO (or maybe a horse with a very similar name) carrying a bad gene(small hearts perhaps?). But, even if that were true it is has not been handed down on dam's side, so I am thinking it would not be a problem? His dam was from the United States and by Polish Navy (Danzig). She had two wins, two places and earned $55,116. So it doesn't look like his breeding is too good, does it?

His Dosage Profile= 1-6-9-0-0(16)
His Dosage Index= 2.56

With all the negatives I have listed I feel kinda bad. I do like Asiatic Boy just fine, I just haven't found the right type or amount of information to describe him in my preferred usual way of accentuating the positive.

Asiatic Boy has run seven times (5-2-0) His last 4 starts (7-9 furlongs) he has all won. And by a combined total of 25.75 lengths!

On this Wednesday will know what he thinks about turf, "right handed" running and older male horses:D:D:D(Bad joke) I'll replace that with- and the glamorous, near black filly Iridescence, his lovely stablemate

Interesting race and if Asiatic Boy can reproduce his Dirt form on Turf he'll go very close to taking this, his main danger will be Excellent Art who gets a very handy WFA

Quotes
Mike de Kock, trainer of Asiatic Boy
“He has never gone right-handed and never beaten older horses. Clearly, dirt is his game, but it will open new avenues if he performs well on turf, and it will enhance his value. He has been going very well in training and, if the ground is firm enough, the track shouldn't worry him.”

Kevin Predergast, trainer of Decado
"He won really well last time, considering it was his first attempt at a mile and a furlong. The easier the ground is, the better he will be. He was third in the Irish Guineas last year, just behind George Washington and seems in good form. The track shouldn't be a problem - he is very adaptable and has been round Leopardstown, and that is similar, so it shouldn't bother him too much."

Ryan Moore, rider of Jeremy
“Ascot was the first time I had ridden him since he was a two-year-old, but on that run we know he is good enough to win one like this.”

Ed Dunlop, trainer of Munaddam
“This will be his first time at a mile but if he had not run last time when it was soft he would be more respected. He hated the ground at Newmarket. When he won the Listed race at Haydock, Royston Ffrench said he would stay amile, and we toyed with supplementing for the Queen Anne. This is a real hard ask, but he is talented and, if he stays a mile, he could be in the mix.”

Saeed Bin Suroor, trainer of Ramonti
“He ran a big race atAscot and has done very well since. It is an open race and I think he has a good chance but there are some good horses in there. I've always liked him and his work earlier in the year gave us the confidence to run him in the Lockinge. After he finished second I was unsure he would be good enough to win a race like the Queen Anne but he is a tough horse who always tries hard.”

Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Archipenko, Excellent Art and Trinity College
"Excellent Art seems to be fine and we have been happy with him since he won the St James's Palace. It was good to firm at Royal Ascot and, while it mightn't be quite as fast this time, we think that won't be a problem. We've always thought Trinity College was better than he has ever run, so while he ran at Leopardstown on Saturday night, we have decided to drop him back in trip and give him another chance to show it. After running in the Derby, Archipenko dropped down in trip in the Eclipse, and now we are dropping him down again. If there is no pace on, he won't mind going along in front."

Nice sunny day on Tuesday, so ground may have dried out a little which should be of help to Asiactic Boy

Thank you for all of the good information Charlie! That is one interesting looking track. A European website ranks Asiatic Boy as the 6th best horse in the world. He was given a higher performance rating (proper term?) than Discreet Cat in the UAE Derby. He is owned by the cousin of the ruler of Dubai. His bloodlines look pretty modest, but I am not an expert in that area. I saw Swaps in his pedigree, you don't see that very much.

I read that if he doesn't do well on the turf that they will send him to run on dirt again in the Woodword. Better keep that 116 Beyer form Lawyer Ron!:)

its 1036am eastern time so the race may already have been run...
I do not know if he came in first or last , but I do not expect him to be a top class turf horse at all. In general these Argentinian horses are not top class on the turf although they run on both in their home country and are versatile. To ask him to complete with top class turf horses overseas is unrealistic unless he has a unique pedigree from the standard Argentinian star or he meets a very weak group. He would have done well on the dirt over here.

I just heard that even with his 4th place finish (almost 3rd) on turf that they plan on running him in the Juddmounte (???) over there next, at least someone said that his trainer said that.

Good run, but not good enough today.

Connections stated he blew up and now heads for Juddmonte at York, which is interesting. I suppose they have nothing to lose having another crack on turf and if he falls short there he would be still on course for a crack at the Woodward

Charlie D

Just looked at race dates

Juddmonte takes place on August 21st and that is very close to Woodward, so that latter must be off intended targets.

I think they may be thinking, see what happens at York and then map out future plans

Nice win for him. If memory serves, he scratched out of a race at Ascot to shoot for this one. By the notes, it looks as if Dylan Thomas had a little traffic trouble and didn't get a clean run. Punters had it right down though as all 7 came across the line in final odds order. Asiatic Boy might be better on the dirt than the lawn, especially against the likes of the top 3 here.
