A lot of my handicapping friends didn't like Jose, but I did. Especially tough in big-money grass races.

That's a tough way to go out...a fall at the Big A.

I'm happy he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next week.

Santos retiring and Funnycide retiring together. August 10th ? is Funnycide day at Saratoga and should give them both alot of good cheer to ride off into the sunset . I've still got my 2003 Saratoga promo tshirt with Jose, hand raised in victory on Funnycide winning the Derby. Appeared to me to be a very nice man and was a superior turf jockey, as I remember him. Hope they can find a place for him in racing somewhere.

So, NYRA has decided to finally clean up their act. I hope that he's not going back to Peru to teach at jockey school his "patented strangle hold" or how to "get stuck on the turf rail" if you are odds on.

  :jump:
