[font=Arial]A Day at the Spa: July 27, Pony Cide
by Claire Novak

Barclay Tagg rides down the horsepath aboard a chestnut pony. Watching near the gap, Jose Santos stops in his tracks.

“Is that Funny Cide?”

Yes, Jose, that’s Funny Cide, and we haven’t seen the Derby-winning gelding this happy since the first Saturday in May. We will resist the urge to editorialize over his shiny coat and rich, healthy dapples – suffice it to say that he looks very, very good.

Is it just me, or is ponycide an unfortunate title for this piece? :bang:

The story was fine, it was the morbid implication of the title that bothered me.

I am getting the impression he goes to the track more often than not. We had breakfast at the track yesterday, and a horse saunters over eyeing the clubhouse and the horse going by occasionally. His saddlecloth has "BT" on it, but didn't think much of it. Of course, Mary Ryan picks up on it - "Is that someone we know Robin [the rider]...is that Funny Cide?" She nods and FC gives a slight whinny. He gets an impromptu ovation and he pauses (!) for some pictures - pretty cool moment.

Never dull at the Spa - this made my day!
