I am trying to date these coasters I have. In the sealed Marlboro Cup coasters there is a free admission for Sunday Oct 6th. Since I knew the stakes started in 73 I figured I would go forward from 73 to try to figure out what years had the 6th of Octorber fall on a Sunday.

I came up with 1974 and 1985, I don't think I missed any years it may have fallen on.

Now the question is which date are these from.

Anyone who can verify what year these are from it would be great, thanks.

Years where Oct 6 was a Sunday:

1974
1985
1991
1996
2002

Judging by the printing on the blue ticket, I'd say it was one of the more recent ones. They didn't do those kind of backgrounds in the 70's, and probably not the 80's either. Looks very 1996 to me, but that's just a wild guess...

It appears that the Marlboro Cup ended in 87, that was why I didn't include any dates past 85.

So I guess it that these would probably date to 85 versus 74 then.

Ahh...

How much was clubhouse admission in 1974? If $2 or less, it's gotta be 85 then...

You can ask this guy. He's selling one on eBay

Sent the seller a question, hopefully he knows.

I'm glad I picked mine up way cheaper than what he is selling this one at. I grabbed all 8 of mine plus a 98 Belmont Stakes clock and an original copy of Investing at the Racetrack by Scott(was just thrown in the box) and it had papers of someones reference notes or quick study sheets they probably brought to the track with them. It looks like the papers are as old as the book. I only paid $35 bucks for everything including shipping.

I don't know if I'd trust info from that ebay seller. I have a set of these too, and if they're really "made of brass", it's the lightest brass I've ever seen.
