The GIF charts I create have a WHITE 'background' when viewed using any browser.
If I open one using PAINT or any other graphics editing tool, I get different backgrounds/colors: black/blue in PAINT, a tiled one in PHOBIE and GIMP, etc.
This is a pain in the ass when it comes to editing, as it's hard to see the lines/text of the original chart.
As best as I can determine this has nothing to do with 'BACKGROUND color' as defined within these applications. (I played around with it to no avail.)
Any ideas as to how I can have these charts appear white, with colored lines and text, in one of these editors?

You want Painter or PhotoShop Tubs? Let's go PS:
Open your gif in PS and go to image/mode and select RGB color. Then go to Layer/New/Layer from background. Presto, chango.
Toy around with an inner shadow once you change "background" to another layer name as it adds nice depth to charts. FatCharts. BigFat Charts. BigFatTubby Charts. Well, you get the idea.

Don't have Photoshop
have something called Photobie
and it has a whole bunch of layer options
Add a new blank layer
Make current Layer a new image
Move current layer to center
Move checked layers to center
Change to layer move and resize mode
Layer color balance adjust
Set layer tansparent color as paint color
Erase the layer region having current transparent color
Hide/unhide all check layers
etc.
None of these done a thing
WTF, I'm not looking for ADVANCED shit here. Any of these tools has to be able to do this.

Do those dopey programs let you change the image to RBG Color?
If so, do so & you're making a movie.

Sounds like you've actually got a transparent layer that shows up white in the browser instead of an actual white layer. Different programs use different colors or usually a checkboard to indicate this. What is it that is creating the original chart?

No.
But there's an option to show it as a photo frame, which displays it was a green backgound, which is workable. But the interface sucks and I need something else.
Paint.NET require .NET framework 2.0 and I don't want to download that shit.
Gonna go back to GIMP and see if that option exists.

What is it that is creating the original chart?
Perl program. Specifically, the module GD::GRAPH

The default setting for background color was 'black'. I hadn't looked at it and wasn't even aware that the option was part of the default module. Changing it to 'white' solves the problem.
Thanks

Can you post an example of the problem, or post a link to an example?
