THANKS GENE

With all due respect to RPM, they rave about everything they sell. I've bought a lot of things from them over the years. Some was total junk. Other stuff was okay. I wouldn't get too worked up over something they're selling just because they're plugging it.

I haven't seen this but have had 2 diff guys e-mail me and tell me they were making money with it. One was using it with other prgms and the other was using it alone.

If it is the same as the original paper and pencil method, it is used for sprints only and all winners come from the top 5 morning line choices...so no huge longshots. Still though, I use it with one of my own rules added to it and so far it has worked. No huge profits, but a profit nonetheless. It is very logical and quick to figure. It also has a wagering strategy which is pretty good, but I vary from it occasionally. I would recommend it to anybody who wants a quick way to handicap sprints. I hit a decent exacta on the first race I played using it...paid for itself right away. Like I said ...no giant hits, but no long runouts either and with smart betting has a lot of potential.

Keenang:

Is there a website or mail address for this?

Thx for help. I'm curious!!

David,
In their catalogue, RPM boasts of 32.3% winners and an ROI of 36% betting to win with System 17. They claim to hit 36% of exactas for an ROI of 41%. I'm curious as to how this might compare with your experience using System 17.
Thanks.
Jack

CapperLou,

RPM's address:

I don't think they have a website.

In limited use I showed a bit lower ROI than the claim. I'll have to go over my records some more to get the exact percentage, but over 150+ races, I showed a 16% profit. I thought that was pretty good. I added my own rule for class moves that cost me a couple of winners, but also took me off some low-priced losers. I mainly handicap route races only, so I haven't used it that much. I will give it a more extensive test though and see if I can reach the ROI stated by RPM.

Another thing, I play mostly cheap claimers. The method may work better in higher class races. I'll give it a try at a bigger track than I usually play and see how it does.

David,
Thanks for your above responses, and thank you in advance for any further information you can provide.

Does the SYSTEM 17 software use the BRIS files or can one enter info manually?

If I tested an easy to use method that had 16% ROI over 150 races I don't think I would put it aside. Would anybody on this board?
I know 150 races isn't a lot, but I sure as hell would test 150 more, especially if it's easy to use. Now I'm as skeptical as the next guy that this will hold up in the long run, but still.......

Break it down into segments of, say, 75 races and if it works on all or nearly all segments, then it is probably pretty good.

andicap
12-26-2002, 08:44 PM
Is that necessarily so? What is one of the 75-race segments shows a loss? You can't say you ever had a losing month with your handicapping even tho it might have been good. Bad luck, random occurances (e.g. flipping a coin and getting heads 10 times in a row or the Cincinnati Bengals winning a game).

Once, while performin my Zen meditations, I flipped a quarter
45,500 times & I got all heads. It's amazing what power Zen holds.

Was it a 2-headed coin?

Tom,

No, but he was stoned and thought that it was heads every time. You just can't trust those "heads".

Tom

Yeah, those "heads" would be better off if they got a little "tail" once in a while.

Wouldn't it kind of be hard to decide who would be "heads" and who would be "tails"?:D

45,000 flips? This is a guy not to mess with in the thumb wrestling competition.

I hope after a lot of those heads came up he didn't start running a due column on tails.

Back to Sys 17; if you have it and don't know this, TSN files work too.

Lefty,
Sorry, I dpn't know how to get the file into your e-mail box on PA.
If you send me your e-mail address ( I'm jackad@juno.com)I should be able to send it.
Thanks.

Lefty,
It appears that you have the System 17 program.
What has been your experience with it? If you bet to win, what have you found for win frequency and ROI?
Thanks.

Jack, just got the thing yest. and only reason I put it on my computer was to get it working to help a friend at racebook who just bght and couldn't get it to work. I'll take my laptop over today and show him what to do. It's his first prgm.
I put in HAW yest and in 10th race it gave 3 horses to box. One won and paid $33+ other two ran out.

Lefty.
Please keep us informed about your further experience with this program. Even day by day results will be welcome. I'm thinking about buying it.
Thanks.

Jack, prob. not going to use it. Starting Wed. doing a test on Master Magician so won't be buying tsn files, at least, for awhile.
I put it on my computer from a friend's disk so I could tell him how to run it.

All I can say is that Clint Tracy is the best marketer in the world, if he has you people believing that anything he sells is as profitable as he says it is.

The promo says that you find 3 or 4 prime plays per day per track, hit 32.3% winners, and show a 36% profit.

I don't know of a mechanical method that will play 35% of all races and win one out of three of them. I don't know of a mechanical method that will show a 36% profit no matter how selective it is---even if it only plays 1 out of 100 races. But Clint Tracy's programmer found one that does both.

Baloney.

If that isn't logical enough, put it this way: Who in their right mind, if they had a black box that played a third of all races and netted a 36% profit on money bet would ever sell it to the public?

On top of that, RPM makes this kind of claim for every single system and every single piece of software that they sell. The sharpest guys in the world, combining cutting edge software, years of experience, and a lot of hard work, play maybe one race out of five (or less) and might make 10% on their money (probably less).

But "Dave Powers" has found hundreds of such methods that are mechanical, easy to learn, and make three or four times that.

He's found hundreds of easy to use methods that play a third to half of all races and make 30%+ ROI, and nobody else in the world has found even one that can come close to those stats. And he's willing to sell them all to the public.

Sorry, I'm not that naive. And you shouldn't be, either.
