Did anyone see the DQ incident in race 6 at Del Mar Friday afternoon?
#6 FIRE WOOD finished 2nd, placed 5th for what was described by Denman post race as "repeatedly drifting inward, bothering #3 TIMIAS". :confused:
I looked at it several times and didn't think FIRE WOOD (Nakatani) did much of anything unusual. He was on the outside of the tight pack and TIMIAS (Blanc) tried to go into a hole that wasn't there. I don't think it warranted any penalty.
To top it off, it was only a jockey's objection, not a stewards' inquiry (usually those don't hold up). I just found it strange. And yes, it ruined my 8-6 exactor.
(I also got bounced from the show dough in the very next race, when #5 LIVIA LA VIDA LOCA, along with #2 BILLIE BOB, got DQ'd for interference on #6 COMICAL VACATION at the start. I agreed with that decision though.)
