THURSDAY
BEL Race 4
This is a type of race that I normally pass because there are so many first time starters--6 in all--along with some decent trainers of young horses. That makes for a lot of unknowns. FALSE PRETENSE (3/1) engaged in a furious speed duel (:44.1 :56.1) with According to Plan in her debut before tiring in the stretch to fourth place on June 29. Those are extremely fast fractions for two-year-old fillies at Belmont in July. So I’m going to take a chance on FP hoping that she will carry her speed to the wire in her second career start and that newcomers Sabooh (6/1) and Constance (2/1) won’t fire today.
