In the 4th race I like TYCOON DOBY a lot.

I guess the 4th is wide open, because I've talked to a few different players who all think their best bet of the day is in that heat. The tricky part is that each person selected a different horse. That's what makes racing interesting. We all look at the same race. We form differing opinions. Lump me in. I'll bite.

#5 T'aint War Sir is my only bet today. I'm not gonna be aggressive though. $50 win. He has some upside imo. 4th career race & 3rd of the year today. He came out blazing to win his 3yo debut in a synth-sprint. Next he tried turfing and routing in his first try versus winners. Can't blame them seeing he's by War Chant out of a Sir Ivor mare. He finished a rather even 3rd, only making up 1/2 length in the final 5/16. BUT, his 3rd quarter in that race was approximately :22.30. It's possible his move was ill-timed & hopefully that can be corrected. Victor Espinoza sees fit to retain the mount. The obvious angles: 3rd off the layoff, 2nd time against winners, 2nd time turf routing. Can you spell victory without Victor? ;) One other thing, his conditioner Ron McAnally is a hoffer & likely runs clean as to not tarnish his reputation this late in his career. The clients he still wins at a high% for are Sid and Jenny Craig.

Here's the three I like:

OCEANSIDE STAKES

Division 1 - Race 1

#9 HONORED IMAGE 12-1 Halo's Image (Halo) - Real Honor (Honor Grades)

[M. Garcia / V. Cerin] J/T combo (68, 24%, $2.23)

Upset chance
Lightly raced 3YO
2nd start back from layoff
Good improvement in Beyers in first 3YO start (also first start on turf)
Hollywood turf sprint: too short, only 5 horses, couldn't make up ground
Quicker pace to chase today
Wide pace a drawback, but that's built into the longer price you'll get
If you're looking for a price...

Division 2 - Race 4

#3 LAW BREAKER 5-1 Silver Deputy (Deputy Minister) - Such Flair (Kingmambo)

[A. Gryder / B. Baffert] J/T combo (73, 18%, $3.51)

Baffert charge off the bench - an angle I like in stakes races
Seems like a fighter when stared down
Need-the-lead type has a good inside post to utilize early speed
Hopefully, he's learned to rate and will sit just back of pace
Maybe get 3-1 or better

Division 3 - Race 7

#1 YARIO (Ire) 4-1 Danehill Dancer IRE (Danehill) - Yara IRE (Sri Pekan)

[C. Nakatani / E. Harty] J/T combo (3, 33%, $3.27)

Fire fresh angle at play here (trainer 21% this layoff type, 23% in stakes)
Jockey switch to Nakatani from Flores a big plus IMO
Good improvement in Beyers from Racing Post ratings in two 3YO starts
Needs hot pace (might not get it today), but has rail to save ground early
Maybe get 3-1 or better (thanks to money that will go on #5 Mayor Bozarth)

Good luck all...
