ESPN works OK in Canada, though for some reason I have problems with it on Mozilla but not IE. Calracing, mentioned above, is a great site for free videos from many tracks as well.

I don't think Cal Racing works outside US/Canada either.

http://www.stampede-park.com/

also offers live video.

CJ:

I left off the Stampede Park free live video link on purpose, because there is some doubt whether thoroughbred racing will be conducted there next year.

Thanks,

You need an account to view Hastings.

You need an account to view Hastings.

CJ: That's strange. When I go to the home page of HASTINGS PARK and click on the icon on the left-hand side of the page that reads 'WATCH LIVE RACING ACTION', my WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER kicks right in to the live video without asking me for my HPI account number. However, when I go the other route at their site by clicking on RACING INFORMATION and then LIVE VIDEO, it asks me for my HPI account number before I can proceed to the live video. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/40.gif

A good way to keep this 'THOROUGHBRED FREE LIVE VIDEO LINKS' list handy and easy to find, is to:

1. Open up this particular thread then 'ADD TO FAVORITES' if your browser is INTERNET EXPLORER.

or:

2. Same procedure as in Item #1 above, except the term is 'BOOKMARK' this particular thread if your browser is FIREFOX.

--By doing the above procedure, this becomes a time-saver. The thoroughbred free live video list then becomes easier to find in the future, because eventually this thread becomes shuffled down the list farther as time passes.

Stampede Park is still in the horse racing game.

Racing will return to the Calgary track next spring. A formal announcement is expected later this week.

Although it appeared to many people that Stampede Park had closed its doors to racing last month, this new one-year deal will be a major shot in the arm to the racing industry.

It will mean Northlands Park in Edmonton will likely be able to host harness racing next spring and then host a major thoroughbred meet next summer.

Without a deal, the Edmonton track would have likely held thoroughbred training and racing from February to late September next season, leaving the harness industry in major trouble.

The latest arrangement with Stampede Park also makes it relatively clear that the proposed $200-million racetrack near Balzac won't open until at least 2009.
