How would one go about getting the winners beyer or Bris number from any race. For instance; a horse finishes 10 lengths behind the winner in a 6f race and earns a 70 SR. How do I figure what the winners SR was?

For BRIS, or TSN, beaten lengths = 10/distance, so at 6 furlongs, 10/6 = 1.67 points per length.

Beyer is a different scale, but a quick and dirty way is use 2.5 points in sprints and 2 points in routes, or 2.4 and 1.8 might be closer. The actuals are in several of his books.

So you would divide 10 lengths by 1.67?

So you would divide 10 lengths by 1.67?

A couple examples...

Horse A is given a 70 rating while beaten 5 lengths at 7f. Winner would be 70 + (10/7) * 5 = 77.

Horse B is given a 50 rating while beaten 20 lengths at 1 1/2 miles, or 12f. Winner would be 50 + (10/12) * 20 = 67.
