Was on track the other day and went to the paddock for each race. In the first race of a pick 4, I had handicapped 2 horses for the win, BUT; in the paddock i observed a horse who was all piss and vinegar, and I looked at his eye and he had a devilish look of sort of a bloodshot, "dead eye", for lack of better term. He came bounding off the turn for home and opened up . Wow, a $20 winner to start , all due to the paddock inspection. I also saw a couple other "dead eye" horses, who won. Has anyone else noticed this type of eye thing ? i always looked for a bright , alert, ears up, neck arched , on his toes , etc
