Has anybody used the new Equibase Thoro-Graph Form Rating? It cost $20 per card and gives a single rating for each horse? I haven't tried it yet but was wondering if anyone else has.

They want $20 for a single figure for one card expressing current form?

Throw in a corn fed fillet with jumbo prawns and a slice of banana cream pie followed by a foot massage and I'm interested.

Why would any rational person want surrogate evaluations of a horse race? More than half the enjoyment is working it our yourself.

The same reason, one would suppose, that stallions need HANDLERS to get their tools into the mares. Can't do it themselves.

The format does not allow for the greatest value of the Sheets format, analyzing and predicting form cycle. It is ludicrous. For $5 more you can have the regular thorograph sheets. Or even better, for the same price (or for some tracks for $15) you can get the Equiform Xtra's (full sheets or shorts).

That said, it would be interesting to see how the TG figures stack up against HDW's projected speed rating (PSR). Jim Cramer and Ron Tiller keep a running total on the ROI for how the #1 PSR rating did across all tracks available at: http://66.21.35.126/cgi-bin/yawps/index.cgi (lower right hand corner)

In some ways the TG/Equibase figure is similar to the power numbers sold by some handicappers and actually similar to the Bris Power number--but $20 a card is pretty steep and it will probably be highly correlated to Beyer numbers.
