What if...KY Derby

If money qualifications for a colt to run in the Kentucky Derby were downgraded for their 2 year old campaign, say 2 year old earnings counted 60%, what effect would that have on who ran in the KY Derby? Would that encourage conections to start racing their TC nominated colts later?

BTW, there are two things that could happen by increasing the money requirements on the race:

1) 2yos would begin racing earlier and more often

2) many good horses would pass up the race instead of being used up early in their careers.
