MR Nakatani wins the 4th race at hol with Big Picture, and while on the horse, waiting to come into the winners circle, is talking on a cell phone.

Is there something wrong with this story??

... or being congratulated by the owner who couldn't be there.

... or talking to his girlfriend (who told him she was betting the 7).

No...someone handed him a cell phone...perhaps the owner was on the phone and wanted to congratulate him....

I don't see what the big deal is...perhaps you can elaborate on why you think this is a problem.

While owners frequently call friends etc on their cells ,it seems unusual, to say the least, to watch a jockey immediately get on the phone before
even dismounting.

On the other hand, maybe all jocks should carry a cellular, and advise their #'s
to the stewards to shorten the time gap when inquiries occur:eek:

It is pending and due to go into effect 1/1/2008.

He didn't hide that cell phone in the goal post, did he?

Conspiracy theory: he had cell phone on "vibrate" and had trainer call him when he wanted to give the horse a jolt

Better conspracy theory: the "cellphone" WAS the buzzer, and the "conversation" was just to divert suspicion.
