I've created Spreadsheets to calulate Pace figures.

But takes forever enter manually enter the data.....

Someone at the track told me that you import DRF Data Files to Excel....

I know how use Excel, but I'm not an expert.... and have no clue how to do it

Any help would be very appreciated

I use a program called Able2extract to import the lines from DRf directly into Excel. Then you can massage the data anyway you want. I use Excel to calculate each indiviidual horse's quarter mile.

I believe you have to buy the "data" file that comes with the .drf extension. Costs $1 from Bris.

Able2Extract is a PDF converter program. It will take a PDF file and convert the contents back to txt or other formats.

Aren't the DRF files that you buy just comma seperated files? If so there are 2 options to get the data into excel.
1) Just open the DRF file in excel. Follow the prompts, tell excel the file is comma seperated.
2) Rename the DRF file to a CSV file and open the CSV file in excel. Excel will bypass the import file dialog and open the CSV file with each field in it's own cell.

**On an off note, I'm getting Excel tommorow.
It will be my first time using it. So, I figured I would read up on it here before I ask any 'dumb' questions.
Did a search and over 250 threads alone here :bang: :bang:

Going to be a long summer.

...........and now back to your regularly stationed program....

Well you obviously are able to use a keyboard, and I suspect even a mouse. So excel should be no problem!! Seriously you might do an internet search on "excel tutorial". There are many free online tutorials to get you started.

There is a free software (DOS Based but runs on Windows under emulation mode) called Infotran. You can customize it to take the raw drf file and just output the columns you need as a csv file that can then be imported into Excel. Without this, the raw drf file won't work for older versions of Excel.

Hope this helps.

I think it can be downloaded from Bris web site.
