Just wondered if any of you match betting experts know the reason and/or theory behind the following:
You are playing on one of the match betting site. You get matched at, say, 8/1 on a horse you like. (Amount you are risking is inconsequential). So, essentially, you should be "locked in" at that price if you are playing against someone else. They put up a price, you matched it. Done deal.
Except, let's say the favorite is scratched in the post parade and the gate. THEN, there is a "scratch reduction factor" which deteroriates your price.
If you were "locked in" at the match price, what it is the justification for a "scratch reduction factor" if someone else has matched you at 8/1?
