Search here for it - there was some discussion - it supposedly improves a horse's performance.

Cornell collar ?

This piece of equipment , may aid some horses who displace their soft palate. It is gaining popularity this year. In the past horses ( michael gills et al ) were operated on for this displaced palate, which cuts off air for proper breathing; it is called a myectomy. The device prevents the horse from displacing the soft palate and was invented at Cornell U. , hence the name. Many trainers are trying it, and some use it as SOP . For some reason DRF and BRIS et al do not see fit to add this information to the pp's, much the same as they donot list first time geldings, or if the horse had a myectomy since it last raced and came in last by 30 lengths. Some things never change, although DRF has the new Moss pace figures ! Would you like to know if a horse is breathing, had an operation to fix something, or whether the pace was slow last race ? :bang:
