Is this company for real with this Santa Anita barn fiasco? This should certainly win them major points with the CHRB and TOC...NOT!!, and what about the NY guys looking from afar? Amazing that Magna never disappoints with its strange moves.

From the Article above:

The board also approved the posting of all stewards minutes on the CHRB Web site as a public record.

I thought this might be interesting. From the Article it appears that Magna is biting the regulatory hand that feeds it............

I guess Stronach is the only OB in the TOBA that matters.

Magna had the same kind of pissing match with the Maryland racing commissioners over some of their properties' barn facilities there. Finally, the commissioners played the rehab-or-no-racing-dates card. Magna rehabbed!

It's clear to Magna (I guess) that they're not going to get slots at their California tracks and based on what's happened in NoCal they're not going to get a lot of room to do things their way where the racing properties are concerned. Now that they're faced with the expense of putting in the new synthetic surface at Santa Anita, this posture over rehabbing the barn area might just be a precursor to them shutting down Santa Anita and cashing in the real-estate chips with that property.

I'm not sure if they've signed a contract to do the synthetic surface yet, or not. Anybody know?

They're definitely changing over though the decision to go Poly or Cushion has yet to be declared.

Well that's what I thought but then I read this article and it looks like the whole enchilada is coming unglued out there. Note the reference to Santa Anita about halfway down.

Reference to SA was a game to help get more racing dates- CHRB should not budge on rubber track; Ca will never get slots at the tracks. I carried the petitions for indian and racetrack slots.

If it's rubber, I agree.

The San Mateo Daily Journal is reporting that part of the CHRB meeting held yesterday was devoted to:
"Concerns were also raised about the safety of the synthetic turf which is suspected of containing asbestos,"

"suspected of containing asbestos"

I live in Alameda, 10 minutes from GGF; I do political petitioning for a living; I know the type of people who "suspect" asbestos; it is BS because they hate racing.
