No Derby betting at Oneida Casino
Press-Gazette
ASHWAUBENON — There won’t be any off-track betting on the Kentucky Derby at the Oneida Casino today and Saturday because of a dispute between horse owners and trainers and a company that provides race simulcasts and wagering services to tribal casinos.
The casino was to have started taking bets today. A statement from the Oneida Nation said “Oneida Casino deeply regrets any inconvenience.”
Oneida Off-Track Betting will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight for betting on races at other tracks.
The Kentucky Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association exercised its right under federal law to have simulcasts of races at Churchill Downs, including the Derby, withdrawn from tribal casinos served by Choctaw Racing Services.
The Kentucky group made the move in support of the Oklahoma HBPA, which is at odds with Oklahoma-based Choctaw Racing Services over simulcast fees paid to Oklahoma horse owners and trainers.

Though not all is lost, will just wager online. I typically use a day like this to visit the OTB so if I hit I can cash out with money in hand and have some fun after Derby celebrations.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem as well? I don't know how many states Choctaw Racing Services affects. I just dont know how this works in favor of anyone. Punish me the bettor in Wisconsin for something that took place in Oaklahoma??
Thanks Choctaw Racing Services, you made my 07 Derby one to remember and it hasnt even run yet.
Like I said not the end of the world because of online wagering, just really crappy news to hear Friday morning. Though lucky to have some sites take accounts from Wisconsin residents. Maybe if I would have known there was a chance they wouldnt take wagers I could have planned on taking the 3.5 hour trip to Arlington Park, but since the news was only expressed today that makes it just a little hard to pull off now.
