that's something I haven't heard anyone talking much about. Everyone is hoping it doesn't rain, but what if it does and what if we have a wet fast or a sloppy track? Who is bred to like the slop?

Looks more and more like CD is going to get wet this weekend. I too would like to get everyones thoughts on who is bred or has run well on an off track...

I think they may get some water but I don't think the track with be an off track.

Statistics might be one thing, but all the trainers I ever talked to say the animal take to it in varying degrees: NONE of them like unsure footing, but it freaks out some but not most. An individual thing

It'll be dry by the race tomorrow

DRF carries Tomlinson ratings for turf and wet surfaces. Based on the numbers, Any Given Saturday (458), Cowtown Cat (454), and Zanjero (435) are the three best bred for mud/slop. Though I must caution that many in the field are well above average, between 380 and 405.
I would consider the three horses I mentioned - all of whom will be double-digit odds - are key horses to use in exotics.

i liked Zanjero on a fast track to be ITM.... might have to give him a strong consideration.

I knew yesterday the weather was going to be horrible... I live in arkansas and it's been raining since about tuesdayish.

Besides turf racing, I don't mind an off track... of course the saftey of the horses

Who's next in line, Hard Spun? He is making me take notice, he also has proven in the slop with a win, and has the highest ratings for the distance bred wise. They throw to many things at me :D

If he stays up there at his ml, and track off, will be in my exotics for sure

Good guess, Red. Hard Spun indeed ranks 4th at 412, part of a tightly bunched group that includes Curlin (409), Sedgefield (395), Liquidity (391), and Street Sense (389).

Zangero (high off-track Tomlinson fig; on Jan 23rd at Fair Grounds he was 2nd best out of 15 working out that day at 5 furlongs in the slop)
