Anyone know the exact distances for any of the following at Santa Anita:

1. About 7 furlong Turf course
2. Downhill turf course about 6.5 furlong races
3. About 1 3/4 miles San Juan Capistrano

I coudn't find any info about this on the Santa Anita site, but Wikipedia says:

1. a turf course measuring 9/10 of a mile, or 7 furlongs plus 132 feet
2. a hillside turf course which crosses the dirt and is used mainly to run turf races at a distance of "about" 6½ furlongs (exact distance 64½ feet less than same)

As for #3, if you add the Wikipedia 6.5 distance (4225.5) to the distance of the main turf course (4752), you get 8977.5, which should be the distance of the San Juan Capistrano.

However, the Racing Form used to publish info about SA gate placement (before SA added some rail positions in 2003) which said the exact 6.5F distance was 7 feet longer than 6.5 furlongs or 4297 feet and the distance for 1 3/4 races with the rails down was 259 feet shorter than 14 furlongs which comes to 8981 feet, which is just 3.5 feet from the distance derived by combining the wikipedia distances.

Thanks.

@6.41 furlongs for the downhill turf course.

4229 feet? This is what you get if you subtract the Wikipedia turf course distance (4752) from the DRF 1 3/4 distance (8981) which suggests that those distances are correct.

Thanks.
