The Emerald Downs owners are notoriously cheap. I am not advocating for Poly at Emerald Downs, but the investors of that track would never spend the money to install it.

Emerald should put in turf instead. They could draw more horses as the only turf course in the Pacific Northwest.

I really miss Do Dah and nags like Chum Salmon and Trooper Seven.

Same deal with turf. It would cost money to install and would be expensive to maintain. They have enought trouble just trying to keep the dirt track from being too hard on horses. I think there are also some wetland issues that prevent it. Speaking of wetlands, no that is not a new lake in the infield at Emerald. That is left over water from a winter of rain. No drainage, no nothing. It just sits until it evaporates....probably sometime in July.
