What would the math be "roughly"
Beyer figures are worth 3 lengths in sprints, 2 lengths in routes etc...
1 length=8 feet
So a beyer of 100
1 foot per second * 0.681818182 is 1 mph
how many feet per second in a beyer point.
??????????????????
Math Dumb...

Actually the value of a length varies over distance with Beyer. And I belevie you are rounding up for overall sprints and down for overall routes. It'd be better to figure out what the Beyer variant is and convert it to time, and then compute the MPH based on the actual fractional times.

So calculate the raw beyer, using beyer methods then subtract from the actual beyer to get the variant?
Use these charts, or the ones in the back ohf his book:

Just calculate the variant from the race final time. Either caluclate the Beyer variant or use the times to calulcate it in terms of fifths or tenths, ala Quirin.

PERFECTO! TOM Thanks.
Glad it helps.
I would be careful using rounded BL values to project out to larger numbers - it will make a small difference rather large.
