My barber has been playing Del Mar since Bing was bangin' around the joint. When I told him 5-6 years ago that he could play tracks all over the country on a computer he was shocked and wondered what a computer was. I set him up with a system and got him going.

So I'm in the chair yesterday and he tells me to stay away from the 7 on any race @ BEU. He's been tracking the post of winners lately:

4 5 1 2 1 1 3 5 5
6 6 5 5 3 2 2 5 5
5 2 4 1 1 5 2
3 5 5 3 4 3 6 6 5
5 4 5 6 1 5 6 8 5
2 4 8 4 6 9 0

I says to him, I says: I didn't know guys played like that anymore. A numbers guy.

Any of you thugs roll with that dice or know others that have?

Walk into any track in America and guys are playing "them's my numbers."

Walk OUT of any track in America, and the guy walking in will ask you "How are they running today?" Meaning "Have the powers that be orchestrated all favorites today, or all bombs?"

Oh, I forgot.

There's also "a four bring a six", and "a seven bring a nine."

Or some such.

I would NEVER play the 7 horse there if it wins less times than the "0" post!

There was a system from the Norman Strauss system mill called

Million Dollar Loophole and thats all it was. You put an X when the post

position hit and a O when it missed. You watched for a period of time and

then patterns were supposed to emerge. Play the 4 after it O 'd out for

3 straight days etc. With going online and getting results from various

tracks being so easy nowadays I made one up for Aqueduct and noticed

the number 1 horse hit something like 24 straight days. I showed this

to a guy at the OTB and he said it was similiar to some type of chart they

use in the stock market. He had a name for it but I can't remember what it

was especially when he saw my XXXOOXX for the post positions.

I hit a $107 horse that day at Laurel playing PP 3. after I looked it over

I should have played PP5 but who's complaining. He says playing like that

will mean I won't be playing long and he won't be seeing me much in the

near future but I just keep the chart up and use it as a spot play.

Another thing I hear all day at the OTB is add it up. The tri comes in

and the numbers are 6-2-4 I always hear the guys yell ADD IT UP !!

I had a friend who called them "counting numbers"

"2 and 4 make 6!" he'd say, and then look at me like I was the dumb one. :D

At a simulcast I used to attend, this guy would come in and watch all the screens for 20 or 30 minutes. If he saw, say, the 5 horse win at Laurel, Calder, and Aqueduct during that span, then all the rest of the day he would bet the 5 horse at any track, regardless of race type or odds, because "today it's fives."
