Is there a list of horses that break down? Is there a way to find out if the horse was saved or not if you happen to see a horse get injured?

Each horse is required to do a necropsy, and so each state has the information; also, I believe the Jockey Club would have papres turned in or be notified somehow.
However, in my experience there is great reluctance of racing to allow the public information on injuries or deaths. Maybe a Public Records Act request to states would work.
