I want to walk,
In the footsteps...of Jesus,
I want to swim...from sea...to sea,

I want to walk,
On the floor...of your ocean,
I want to know...God's will...for me,

I want to walk,
Out in...the moonlight,
I want to walk,
Out in...the moon

I'll update the song (with vocals) on esnips whenever Michelle and I can get some more studio time.

A gospel song....horseplayers really need to believe.
here's the lyric to my horseracing song.....

Longfield Avenue

i've lived my life, furlong to furlong
leaning here on this rail
seen all the great one's
Cigar and Citation
John Henry, charging hard up the rail

made a lot of bad wagers,
on broken down claimers
still i managed to laugh
cause theres a 40 to one'r
just round the corner
to have me back in the black

i'm an old racetracker,kind of a slacker
guess i had to do it my way
you can keep your casino's
and junket's to Reno
ain't exactly,what i call a game

well i'm rounding the turn
and headed for home
almost to the end of the line
and when i get to the window
i want the Big Man to know
i had myself a really good ride

The tracker song - could really use a blues harp solo in the middle, ala Niel Young - simple, but hard.

Nice stuff, bsquirrel. Prine-like. Agree with MrT, blues harp on the break works well.

Shac - That's not really a tune, it's more of an 8 bar groove. Get someone to throw some melodic material in there somewhere.

Throw in a vocal with a Byrne type affectation.

You know something like:

I can’t seem to face up to the facts
I’m tense and nervous and I can’t relax
I can’t sleep because my bed’s on fire
Don’t touch me I’m a real live wire.

Psycho Killer
Qu'est-ce que c'est?

Otherwise, I don't know what to do with a groove and a guitar solo.

I appreaciate all the feedback, the reason I posted the poll is because I'm gonna be putting together a demo tape and I want to use to PA as a focus group.

So this was the first of many songs that I will be seeking opinions on, sorry guys! The guy at the studio told me to: "Pick four of your favorite songs and put the best one first."

I'm gonna upload another tune - soon!

Hey Blind Squirrel, Your racing song is a good story song--might try to pick up a chorus, maybe use a bridge. These are just thoughts that might help to make it more commercially viable. Not a criticism--just familiar with the form of 90% plus that receive radio play time. Good luck with it.

thanks FERGIE for your kind words and suggestion.....well,i understand what you mean by a chorus and a bridge, but as a songwriter i come from the school of
say what you have to say with a lyric, and i did, and anything else in this particular song
would be redundant...and really how many "commercial"

You're right blindsquuirrel, I can't remember anything at the moment--if there were to have been any commercial successes I'd expect maybe Jerry Reed or someone like him (same type presemtation). 'Course I liked everything he recorded. But it's great that you can be happy with the song as it is because even if you dress a song up with all proper form (according to today's standards) etc., the ratio of songs submitted to songs published is phenomenal. I've heard estimates of 100/1 for published writers and up to 500/1 for unpublished writers. I fall into the latter category, and I can't imagine ever writing 500 songs in my lifetime. Anyway, enjoy, you've already increased your number of fans, just by putting the song up here. Good luck.

squirrel -- are you familiar with the work that Crowell did with Vince Gill as the Cherry Bombs? They were songs that might not be appreciated by the Nashville establishment and might hurt their careers. This was in the 80s I think. One of the songs has a chorus line:

It's hard to kiss the lips at night
That chew your ass out all day long.

Great stuff. I like Robt Earl Keen, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Joe Ely etc. There won't be another Townes Van Zant. Texas music is the greatest.

Yeah, Blind Sqirrel, I write 'em, but I can't seem to sell 'em. Have sent a few to Nashville, without success. I don't have the computer experrtise to set up like you have to get a song on the net. I could only type in lyrics and tell you the chords to play on your guitar. Wish I did know how to set that sort of thing up, but I'm a bit of a technophobe, and learning new things has gotten harder for me over the years.

My wife was able to do that part for me, and sent a number of them to Nashville over the last two years (Nashville Songwriter's Assocation),. There they are supposedly heard, considered for lyrical content, rhyming, form, melody, etc., then they get back to you to tell you their thoughts about your work. Some of the listeners can be helpful, others can be quite brutal in their evaluations. Sorry, I digress. Anyway, to answer your question, Yes, I can get an Mp3 form done. I also still have the old Dial up. Would that present a problem?

if you can get mp3,you can get a my space for artists page....i don't think dialup

it kicked em in the ass....

When I return I will lay down a few songs and see if my wife will still be able to convert to Mp3. When that is done, I'll get back in touch to get help to get them online. Now understand, this will just be me and the guitar, and I don't sing or play very well. So please, consider the song/s, not how bad the performer may perform. And by the way, if you take a liking to anything, and want to perform it I'm okay with that. I'd just like to hear someone playing some of my songs and people having the chance to enjoy them. I impersonate (sing/record) two gone but not forgotten artists. Waylon & Johnny C.
Waylon (having a more unusual voice) is actually the harder of the two, to do.
But the fact that the crowd knows their songs so well, helps get through any flaws in the impersonation.
Fender recently took the "Waylon" commemorative telecaster out of their catalog. And as I predicted, the ones left out there are worth many thousands each, and worth more every day.

Trivia quiz: What's the name given to a die hard Waylon fan ?

When Waylon passed on the hypocrisy of Nashville was shameful. They wouldn't give him the time of day when he was alive but when he is gone they speak glowingly of him. They even had a "memorial" TV special with Hank Jr, Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart. I think I know what Ol Waylon would have had to say to them.

This is the e-mail I sent out to the peep's in my group tonight...

But first, check this song out:

http://www.esnips.com/doc/3bba1cd9-d295-4e99-9f2e-bbf920be8b60/Deliverance

Hey guys,

I joined this church today:

http://www.firstbaptist.org/

I'll be baptized next sunday. They wanted it, so I agreed. They also have no music director...hmmm? If it's God's will - okay - but I'm still going to go through with my plan; Work hard to get out of debt (because the bill collectors are already calling me) Write Christian music and organize musicfests through FBC. They have a music suite on the fourth floor and I was able to practice for 2 hours there today. Pass the swim test - 22 laps under 10 minutes and 2 laps under 30 seconds - and work as a lifeguard on Daytona Beach.

From there, I hope to go through the Police Academy and join the Beach Rangers...just a note...speeding on DB is a $300 fine, twice the amount on the street.

I've been working out like a maniac; Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, Muay Tai and weight training to get ready for the academy. I'm also doing kickboxing sessions with Mike Bell, who was the world champion for 10 years in a row.

I also plan to ask Jessica, from Gold's Gym - to go surfing with me next weekend.

I actually sang this song, that I wrote last night - in church tonight - can you believe it? ME SINGING?...in front of a thousand people...I had never sang in front of people in my life.

Here it is:

Yes Lord I hear you,
Yes Lord I understand,
Yes Lord I know...the world needs a helping hand

(vocal melody becomes upbeat, music faster)

Whatever I do...I wanna do for you,
Wherever I go I want your love to Fa-Low - ME -

(music speeds up)

Into this beautiful world you created,
The sun the stars and the moon,
Lets celebrate it!

And happiness is yours if we share it,
How much you love the world,
Let me hear it!

You gave your only son,
So that we could be as one,
In the spirit!

Hear it now - GOD LOVES THE WORLD,
Shout it out - GOD LOVES THE WORLD,
Learn how - GOD LOVES THE WORLD,
Read the word - GOD LOVES THE WORLD
