Speed was king today on the Aqu main dirt course. 7 of the 9 races were won by those who were no worse than 2nd at any call according to the chart. No post position bias. Raining for most of the day, surface was listed sloppy all day. All races were at 1 turn. Tomorrow the same. They carded 2 turn races for this coming Saturday. In Talamo’s first mount of the day, he took at big lead to the ¼ pole with a to fast 45.3 fraction and struggled to finish second. He got smart real quick and held sway in the 4th with a slower 46.3 on a .65 cents horse. I wish he would stay to see what he could’ve done against the ultra deep summer NYRA jockey colony. Today there were 4 winning favs and 4 winning second bet choices. It’s been that way here for a longtime. In the 6th, Victorious Affair took out 3 horses inside him at the break, but won anyway. The stewards put up a good show checking this mugging out, but didn’t change the order of finish. Winner was the second bet choice. The fav, Jacks Away breaking from the 8 post ran last. He wasn’t effected by the bad break. Ive seen less obvious interferences taken down. NY’ers are always complaining about the injustices the stewards perpetrate of the public. Arroyo has a bad rep with the judges, and they’re forever screwing with him. Tomorrow brings hope, and dryer track…maybe.
