Looking for some legal consul, if one were to publish a book ,using the PP's from the DRF, does permission have to be granted by the DRF, before it's release.

To expand on the "yes" from Dave, you need the permission in writing from DRF and then you must acknowledge their permission for reprint in the book. I used 12 charts and corresponding past performances with DRF's permission in my first book....

The information I got from the Racing Form many years ago was the same as boomman's, though they didn't require that I get permission in writing. They were happy so long as I acknowledged that all the past performance and results charts were copyright by the Racing Form. They are really lenient on this, as they want everyone to continue to see the Form as the ultimate source of all racing information.
