Anyone,

I'm having a tough time remembering how to come up with a formula and would appreciate any help.

I want to enter a number in Column A, another number in Column B, and have the difference between them expressed as a percentage (out to 1 point right of the decimal) in Column C and whether the change was positive or negative, i.e., + or -.

If the number in A is smaller than the number in B, I want the percentage shown as a +, and if the number in A is greater than the number in B, I want the percentage shown with the - sign.

If anyone can give me the formula to enter in Column C for that calculation I would appreciate it greatly.

B/A-1

rye,

Close, but not what I need. Maybe I didn't explain my need accurately enough.
For example, I want to enter 1181 in column A, and 1462 in Column B. I then want to show in Columb C the increase of 281 expressed as shown below:

+23.8

That's the difference (281) divided 1181 which on a calculator comes out to
.23793954. I would likd to round up to +23.8. If the numbers in A and B were reversed, difference of 281 would be the decrease from 1462 and it should be shown as -19.2.

Does that help?

Then either convert it to a % format, or multiply it by 100

=(B1-A1)/A1

format C1 as percentage and specify the number of decimal places you want.
