Recently purchased a new computer, and didn't have email set up yet. So I used webmail (Earthlink) and have for about a month now. I have now installed Mozilla Thunderbird for my new email. However nothing appears in it. It shows up on the webmail, though. Please give me a hand here! :)

My parents just got Time Warner thru Brighthouse. I spent several hours trying to set their email up mostly due to their shitty web instructions. You will need to know the POP and SMTP servers................ This should help:

Setting Up Earthlink Email (http://kb.earthlink.net/case.asp?s=st%3D855%2Ce%3D0000000001445700333%2Ck% 3D6817%2Csxi%3D2&article=74756)

At worst you can click on the live help chat box.

I have no such box.

This is ticking me off...

use yahoo or gmail. then you never have to set anything up ever again, and you won't have to inform everyone of your new email address whenever you change providers. And, if you must link to some business accounts you still can. maybe I'm just lazy, but I see no use for outlook or thunderbird.

chickenhead, I use yahoo and like it, don't want to switch. But, have you started lately getting a bunch of spam through the filter? My spam guard is always on, but doesn't seem to work as good. A ton doesn't get through, but more than enough to aggravate does. Is this happening to you also?

Try Setting Up Your Email with the Mozilla Thunderbird Instructions (http://products.secureserver.net/email/email_thunderbird.htm)

Try using pop.earthlink.com as your incoming server and smtp.earthlink.com as your outgoing server.

I have used the pop and stmp servers, the latter of which has changed compared to what you wrote. I'll check your link.

Guys,

Any suggestions on how to insert a picture into the text of gmail email? I understand that they are in beta mode, but one would think that option would be available. Can't get it to work personally.

TIA

BR -- I'm like a spam magnet...don't know how to keep it out. Probably smart to have a public email address that you use for web stuff, and a private one you just use for correspondence with friends and family. That way all the spam goes into one you don;t care about I'm too lazy for that, though.

I've already seen that link. They continue to appear in the webmail, but not in the thunderbird box (Thunderbox?)
