I totally lost my ass today as well as some other days. I'm going thru a slump right now where things don't seem to work out like they use to for me, so I will take some time and regroup and do some reporgramming on some things and we'll see how it goes from there. I will take KingFin's advice for now and take a break and come back at a later date for posting (I know, I know). :jump: :jump:

This is the yellow brick road to the poor house.

We all have our slumps, but you have to ride them. If you can't, you can't win, nothing to do with re-programming.

Re-group and best of luck.

Instead of re-programming or whatever, maybe try learning how to handicap instead of using the tote.

I understand BR, but when most people start losing or get in a rut they play scared and start playing very cautiously thus missing winners that they would normally play, I play the opposite and get aggressive. I generaly have success in doing this too. So I guess I'll saddle up and ride thru this slump. :)

With all due respect CJ why? What I mean is, is that going to make me anymore of a winner? The reason I say this is because you and I could handicap 10 races using the exact same method and come up with a different horse everytime. It's not the method that's wrong by any means. I know this game very well and I know that even by your method or any method profits are very hard to come by consistantly. I know the toteboard you know the fig's and you try to improve on your method to make it more consistant by tweaking here and there from past races and it never stops, it's an ongoing process that never ends. So I'll stay at it and try to make it more consistant.

Aren't you losing 30% to 40% a day on average though? It's not as if you're close to winning. From CJ's posts, I'd say he's doing pretty well, so it's not really a fair comparision. You get crushed just about every day you post here. You said something in another other post about how it's wrong to play scared---isn't switching to trifectas in a desperate attempt to catch up "playing scared"? I hate to say anything about someone's bets because I'm far from perfect, but you're the one posting 100 picks a day on a message board, so obviously you want us to look and respond. So, I'd say if you are losing far worse than the takeout, you might want to throw out what you're doing and start over. Certainly stop betting if you really are...

Where does CJ post his selections, I've never seen them. Your right it's not a fair comparison I would like to see what his results are after 30-50 plays per day. I don't play a 100 races a day either normally just 20-30 plays. I said it before I have lost in the last few postings. How have you done lately in profits on your wagers? I'm not tring to be a smart ass here but one thing I know for sure, that for alot of posters can say that I suck or I'm losing my ass on my last few posting days or whatever (and I can take that no problem) but what do they bring to the table? You see people tend to jump on the bandwagon to jump all over a guy but what right do they have to do it when they don't post themselves or seem to have a better anwer for everyone. Let me tell you why.....They are afraid to do any posting because they won't do a whole lot better and they don't want to get jumped on by everyone either but yet they will certainly jump on the bandwagon and sound off like they are a better handicapper without any proof of posting selections, and they themselves are not being profitable with their method either. I would have no problem on a friendly challenge by anyone and their method to a few days of posting selections of maybe a 100 plays or so just to see how they would fair.

Once again this is not to be rude or derogatory and I don't have an alter ego here, I'm just telling it like it really is. :)

Try an experiment. Instead of posting your selections on PA, track the results. You may find that a LOT of people are betting your selections at the last minute, so the prices you get on posted selections don't match the prices of "non-posted" selections. PA has a lot of traffic, and not all of it is from posters. At some of the smaller tracks, one or two whales can trash the mutuel pools.

So what? Your approach may be profitable in testing, and on paper, but when you post selections (on PA or elsewhere), expect the mutuels to take a hit. Some of the most obnoxious, derogatory postings (whether concerning your selections, software apps, or whatever) may be from those who are actually using them, making money, and want to discourage others from using the same thing. I don't think I have ever read a favorable "testimonial" for All-Ways on any handicapping forum, yet it is one of the most popular (and apparently, profitable) software applications out there.

It is the nature of the beast. Every dollar I win, I have to take from someone else's loss. If your selections are so bad, the real bettors would encourage you to keep posting, in the hopes others will bet on those selections, thereby increasing the available odds on their selections. Vinny Teresa's book, "My Life in the Mafia" gave a good overview of the strategy.

Above all, don't be "discouraged" by disparaging remarks. If the people making the comments were actually bettors, rather than just forum readers, they would do everything possible to encourage you to post more, not less. Think about it--if they are bettors, and believe you are putting people on losing selections, wouldn't it be more profitable for them to encourage you? This is pari-mutuel racing, not American Idol. ;)

Well he'll at least be the New PA posting champ. Lets see 100 posts a day , 30 days in a month, 365 days in a year. Watch out Tom

I understand BR, but when most people start losing or get in a rut they play scared and start playing very cautiously thus missing winners that they would normally play, I play the opposite and get aggressive. I generaly have success in doing this too. So I guess I'll saddle up and ride thru this slump. :)

We called that Cowboy up, when the RED SOX won the Championship!

I never will say a derogatory statement to anyone who posts picks or plays, I'll just stay quiet (hopefully). But it still looked like you were chasing. I haven't posted for awhile, I do take breaks from that. I will tell you, taylor is right. I have watched my win % stay the same, but price not there. That's why I don't post all the time. The last 3 times I have posted, week and month every time has ended positive. I like to keep it that way.

Maybe we will have a nice 100 play scenerio 'against' each other. I love competition.

You can choose, weekday with us pros, or weekend with better prices?

Try an experiment. Instead of posting your selections on PA, track the results. You may find that a LOT of people are betting your selections at the last minute, so the prices you get on posted selections don't match the prices of "non-posted" selections. PA has a lot of traffic, and not all of it is from posters. At some of the smaller tracks, one or two whales can trash the mutuel pools.

This has got to be THE most hilarious reply in the 7+ year history of this message board. I too am speechless....almost.....

A clue to the clueless:

You can't be affected by other people betting your selections if said selections seldom win.

There is a very good reason I don't post selections anymore. I bet a lot of small tracks, and if anyone tagged along, it could greatly cut my profit, or even turn it into a loss.

I played 45 races on Saturday, $2,250 in total, all win bets. I received back $3,425 + 157.50 in rebates for a profit of $1,332.50.

I played 54 races on Sunday, $2,700 in total, again all win bets. I received back $2,452/50 + 186.30 in rebates for a loss of $61.20.

I average around 8% profit, before rebate, so this was a good weekend, mostly spurred on by a $53 winner at Laurel. I post a lot about what I have learned and never try to deceive anyone. However, I am not about to just give money away. I don't think I've ever declined giving an opinion on a race when asked.

So I need to put up a bunch of predictions and give you my record for the year before I can comment? This is a public message board you're posting on, isn't it? Besides, what proof would anyone need to show they're a better handicapper than losing 40% of their money each day? Okay, sure, I'll take your handicapping challenge. Here are my picks---I'll take the post-time favorite. Oh look, I beat your minus 40%. What an accomplishment. Guess I "bring something to the table" now. :)

Personally, I feel people should comment on what they know. I am not the expert in some areas that others here are, so I stay out of those and just read and try to learn more. Perhaps that would be wise advice for you to follow. But hey, if you like posting your picks, go for it. We have enough people Todd Pletchers on the board anyway---we could always use more John Candlins.
