Here's a challenge for you. Look at each winner's pp's and see if there is any common ground between them. I would think there must be something. I would do it, but my hands are tied up right now. I think it would be an interesting project.

Could make for a nice longshot program or method.

Look at all the horses that went off at 20-1 or higher and compare them to these winners. That might be a way to go at it.

Given the hundreds of races run every day, there will be a certain number of longshot winners. Some days more, some days less. There could be lots of reasons but not necessarily any common thread just because they occured on the same day.

Outside bias in LeftVirginia is bordering on absurd.

There are in fact several factors that indicate a ml long shot may have SOME chance to win. Most are common sense, do the work. I found mine from looking at what factors of high-odds(often 30-1ml) long-shots I could safely bet against in an exchange.

These factors alone would not lead to a profit for win betting.

Usually when you get down to 15-1 tote/ml you have a better chance of finding additional SOLID angles.
Pace is a great place to start.

When you then have a decent field size and a vulnerable "fan favorite" favorite being bet way down, it is time to cash in with the exotics.
