Good call and I hope this becomes fact in the fall, but preferably not now (too early.)

By all means keep praying....even agnostics are allowed to pray. BTW, I doubt that you will attain the maximum allowed, but how much praying can an agnostic do before he is disallowed the use of the term?

In the Senate, Thompson had a consistently right-wing Republican voting record. Here are some of his key votes:

--Voted Yes on use of military force against Iraq.
--Voted Yes on killing an increase to the minimum wage.
--Voted No on adopting Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
--Voted Yes on deploying "Star Wars" missile defense shield.
--Voted No on banning chemical weapons.
--Voted Yes on oil drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Preserve
--Voted Yes on terminating CAFÉ fuel efficiency standards.
--Voted Yes on defunding renewable and solar energy.
--Voted Yes on banning military base abortions.
--Voted Yes on banning so-called "partial birth" abortions.
--Voted No on adding sexual orientation to the definition of hate crimes.
--Voted No on prohibiting job discrimination by sexual orientation.
--Voted No on setting aside 10% of highway funds for minorities and women.
--Voted Yes on constitutional Amendment banning flag burning.
--Voted Yes on limiting product liability punitive damage awards.
--Voted Yes on restricting class-action lawsuits.
--Voted Yes on school vouchers.
--Voted No on background checks at gun shows.
--Voted Yes on selling guns without trigger locks
--Voted No on allowing reimportation of prescription drugs from Canada
--Voted No on allowing patients to sue HMOs and collect punitive damages.
--Voted Yes on repealing Clinton's ergonomic rules on repetitive stress.
--Voted No on increasing tax deductions for college tuition.

That voting record is most impressive. Gun control legislation is a joke. All it does is make it harder for honest citizens to arm themselves. Out where I live everybody is armed and the bad guys know it. Home invasion would be risky to say the least. I would like to see Thompson against osama or hillary. I just got back from an extended trip through the west and enjoyed some time in Healdsburg, CA. I think that is chickenhead country.

Fred is the son of a used car dealer. Fred has the charisma of JFK. Fred has been filling in for Paul Harvey on the air waves. Too bad about the Harvey fill. Presidential hopefuls ought not to read scripts of sleep number beds and security sytems for the aged.

Spread the time out between acting and politics and it's viable, ala Ronald R. People generally don't want to find themselves saying, "Honey, is that the DA from Law & Order that's now our President?"

Fred Thompson to take step toward candidacy
'Testing the waters' papers to be filed with FEC on Monday

By Chuck Todd
Political Director
NBC News
Updated: 11:31 a.m. ET May 30, 2007
Enter Number Eleven?

Fred Thompson makes it (more) official. According to a campaign source, the former Tennessee senator and actor on NBC’s “Law & Order” will file his FEC papers officially on Monday June 4.

In FEC parlance, Thompson is opening a "testing the waters" committee, a technical term that allows Thompson to forgo filing a detailed report on June 30 – though once he's an official candidate, he'll have to file retroactively.

His advantages
If there was ever a time for GOP candidate to come out of nowhere and compete for the nomination, it's now.

According to the most recent NBC/WSJ poll, just 53% of Republicans are satisfied with their presidential choices (compared with 78% of Democrats who say they are).

Plutonic Warming

Some people think that our planet is suffering from a fever. Now scientists are telling us that Mars is experiencing its own planetary warming: Martian warming. It seems scientists have noticed recently that quite a few planets in our solar system seem to be heating up a bit, including Pluto.

NASA says the Martian South Pole's ice cap has been shrinking for three summers in a row. Maybe Mars got its fever from earth. If so, I guess Jupiter's caught the same cold, because it's warming up too, like Pluto.

This has led some people, not necessarily scientists, to wonder if Mars and Jupiter, non-signatories to the Kyoto Treaty, are actually inhabited by alien SUV-driving industrialists who run their air-conditioning at 60 degrees and refuse to recycle.

Silly, I know, but I wonder what all those planets, dwarf planets and moons in our SOLAR system have in common. Hmmmm. SOLAR system. Hmmmm. Solar? I wonder. Nah, I guess we shouldn't even be talking about this. The science is absolutely decided. There's a consensus.

Ask Galileo.

However, I know that YOU can't possibly think that Hillary is going to generate a lot of warm and fuzzy thoughts from perspective voters. You also can't possibly think that Obama is going to have them fervently checking his box with his total lack of experience at almost anything.

It's my opinion that in THE MOST fertile era for a Democratic victory in the White House, you have put up possibly the weakest group of candidates EVER.

Is the Democratic party really serious about winning the White House in 2008? If so, then they may be the ones who are truly out of touch with reality.

Old girlfriends cast their vote for Thompson

Presidential hopeful Fred Thompson is labelled by former flames as a charmer who could bring home the female vote
Sarah Baxter in Washington

IN the battle for the women’s vote, Fred Thompson has a secret weapon against Hillary Clinton - the legions of former girlfriends who still adore him and who want him to be president.

The Hollywood actor and former Tennessee senator racked up an impressive list of conquests during his swinging bachelor days in the 1990s, but he appears to have achieved the impossible and kept their friendship and respect.

Lorrie Morgan, a country singer who dated Thompson and considered marrying him in the mid1990s, told The Sunday Times: “I couldn’t think of a bad word to say about Fred if somebody put a gun to my head.

Democrats tear into Fred Thompson

By: Mike Allen
Jun 25, 2007 03:18 PM EST

Even before his expected July announcement, Fred Thompson's all-but-declared entry into the Republican presidential stakes has prompted the Democratic National Committee to attack him as a potential GOP front-runner and to use his prospective candidacy to raise money.

Democratic strategists say Thompson's populist style and show-biz allure could prove extremely appealing in a general election at a time when voters are so down on Washington. So the party has launched a preemptive campaign against him that includes a DNC fundraising e-mail branding Thompson, "The inside-outsider."

JR,
Are you the campaign manager for Fred Thompson ? If so you may want to share this information with the voters also.
Fred Thompson earned more then 1 million dollars as a lobbyist.

As a lobbyist for more than 20 years, billion-dollar corporations paid Thompson for his access to members of Congress and White House staff. During that time he was close to two Senate majority leaders, both from his home state of Tennessee _ his political mentor Howard Baker and, more recently, his former colleague Bill Frist.

As for the Clintons, they are part of the problem. Thompson's handlers are pushing an agenda suggesting he is above or not connected to the stink in D.C. My post is an attempt to show the real Thompson. Remember how so many have been fooled by the machine that put Cheney in power.

Passage of deregulatory legistlation is never a bad idea. Essentially your mandating that an energy provider such as a public utility pay open market prices for its commodity an resell to the public at much lower regulated rates. However this structure is never really public because all of this is financed through the sale of municipal bonds which end up nearly worthless. a.k.a. California and soon to be Illinois. Sad to say but, Big Business needs some regulation otherwise their quest for the almighty dollar causes them to discard any social responsibilities whatsoever. Another example is the Enron fiasco or more recent history. I really wish most right leaning ideologues would take social responsibility 101.

Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that Fred Thompson on top once again in the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination, Thompson is now the top choice for 28% of Likely Republican Primary Voters matching his highest level of support recorded to date. The question at the moment is how long the bounce from his official entry into the race will last. Rudy Giuliani, who has been the frontrunner for most of the year, is eight points behind Thompson with support from 20%. That figure reflects the lowest level of support recorded all year for the New Yorker. Data released yesterday shows that Republicans consider Giuliani the most electable candidate from their party.

As much as I like Rudy for fixing NYC after Dinkins, I don't see him as President. He's too much of a dick to work with Congress. If people think Bush is divisive, Rudy would be 100X worse. If he got the nomination, I would vote for him because the morons the Dems have put up couldn't be dog cather in my town, but I think Fred is probably the better choice. Since I'm not registered in either party it doesn't matter much, but my choices would be Fred, McCain, then Rudy. After that, any fringe candidate from the right over the bunch of kindergarteners the Dems are running. They are a friggin disgrace.

Boy oh boy, are the Rips in trouble, when an old glue horse like Senator Thompson throws his helmet in the ring. God almighty, can't the Rips come up a real leader. Neither party is worth spit. Guess I'll just vote for me, like I always do, unless Big Ben Davis will give me a new pair of pants for his vote. I considered Mickey Mouse, but he's to darned controversial. :)

Message to Fred.....KISS.

Remeber Reagan - run on a conservative trifecta:

National security ( war on terror)
Cut taxes
Less governement=less spending = good governement.

Everything else is liberal baggage. Don't address it, don't acknowledge it.
Let them look stupid for talking about it in the first place.
Make your point, they will make themsleves look dumb enough.
Time is on our side....how long before Hillary gets splashed with water?
