Any Given Saturday looked real good in Sam Davis win. He could be the best 3yo. Full Card Reports now has him ranked #2. I have permission from the writer to reprint this here as long as I add a link at the bottom. Next up is Hard Spun on Monday  :

#1 NOBIZ LIKE SHOBIZ - Unlike most of his 3 year old competitors, this son of Albert The Great (Go For Gin) has never raced shorter than a mile in all 4 career starts and he has won 3 of them. Most recently winning the Grade 3 Holly Bull Stakes at Gulfstream on February 3 in impressive gate to wire fashion.

The interesting thing about this colt is that he has shown that he does not need the early lead to win. He won the Grade 2 Remsen closing out his 2 year old campaign coming from off the pace going 9 furlongs. Nobiz Like Shobiz broke his maiden at first asking going one mile in that same just off the pace run style.

He's got that great tactical speed that his sire had and that's sure to take him a long way down the road to the roses. Having Barclay Tagg in his corner as trainer certainly doesn't hurt either. It's another big plus for this aspiring colt. One more thing to like is that his damsire is Storm Cat.

#2 ANY GIVEN SATURDAY - Made his 3 year old debut a winning one with an easy score in the $150,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on February 17. He won nicely for John Velazquez who barely asked him for anything in the stretch. He just hand rode him to the wire. This was a very impressive display for the son of Distorted Humor and must have made trainer Todd Pletcher very optimistic for his Derby hopeful.

The Sam Davis race improves the nearly undefeated colt's record to 4-3-1-0 and he has proven he can run his top race on several different surfaces including the one that the Kentucky Derby will be run on.

Any Given Saturday finished 2nd beaten only a half length in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club going 8.5f at Churchill Downs in 2 year old finale.

#3 GREAT HUNTER - Overcame a rough trip in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile to finish a very respectable 3rd out of 14. His previous race was an impressive win in the Grade 1 Lane's End Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland on the Polytrack and overcoming a bad trip that day as well. He beat a good field that day including eventual BC Juvenile winner Street Sense and the hard knocking Circular Quay.

This son of Aptitude has shown a big heart in all 7 career starts and has never finished worse then third in all of those 7 races. Five of those were graded stakes races.

His sire Aptitude was the runner-up in both the 2000 Kentucky Derby (GI) and Belmont Stakes (GI) at three and winner of both the Jockey Club Gold Cup (GI) and the 10 furlong Hollywood Gold Cup (GI) the following year. The pedigree is there for a classic distance and we feel the longer the better for this colt.

On an interesting note, Great Hunter was a "bargain" original purchase for just $30k in the 2005 Keeneland yearling sale . That just goes to show you that you don't have to spend a fortune to have a legitimate shot at getting a possible dream horse. His earnings to date are $630,000 with a 7-2-4-1 record.

Great Hunter has been training well for his 2006 debut over the Cushion Track at Hollywood Park. Since January 15 he has had 4 workouts with the most recent coming on February 5, a five furlong move in 1:01.4.

Trainer Doug O'Neil has the colt pointed for one of the upcoming three-year old graded stakes to be run in early to mid March.

#4 RAVEL - Has only raced 3 times and won 2 of them including an impressive performance in the Grade 3 Sham going 9 furlongs at Santa Anita on February 3. He put away a very game and more experienced horse that day late down the lane which means this son of Fusaichi Pegasus might just beginning to show his true ability.

If Ravel keeps improving off of the Sham race he could very well become the best 3 year old in country. His high profile connections of Smith and Tabor and his superior breeding lend added confidence in this colt. Being from the Mr Prospector line on top and out of an A.P Indy mare on the bottom seems just perfect for the roses in May.

#5 NOTIONAL - Had enough tactical speed to avoid trouble in the large field marred by a spill in the Grade 3 8.5 furlong Risen Star and came away with the win on February 10. That's the kind of ability it takes to win a race like the Kentucky Derby.

Notional's previous start was a winning one in the Grade 2 San Rafael at the mile distance by 4 lengths coming from just off the pace. He laid fairly close to a strong pace that day and was still able to sweep by them and win going away.

In his 2 year old career Notional finish 6th in the Grade 1 Hollywood Futurity but beaten only 2 1/2 lengths. He finished 3rd in the Hollywood Prevue.

To his credit, his best races have been run at longer distances with strong paces up front for him to run at. This should suit him well in the upcoming 3 year old events.

Notional doesn't have superior pedigree like some of his rivals (Sire - In Excess and out of a French Deputy mare) but he is owned by J Paul Reddam who always seems to get his hands on talented horses. This one is no exception.

#6 CIRCULAR QUAY - Figured to close ground late and run down the speed in the Grade 3 Risen Star as the lone closer of the field. He was doing just that on the rail when a horse clipped heels and fell right in front of him thus taking him out of contention to win this race. Circular Quay certainly deserves another chance to prove himself as a 3 year old.

As a 2 year old he finished 2nd in the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile coming from dead last after being pinched at the start. He also finished 2nd in the Grade 1 Lane's End Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland previous to that. He won the Grade 1 Hopeful and the Grade 3 Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs. He has that all important win over the surface that the Kentucky Derby will be run on.

#7 STREET SENSE - 2 year old champ will look to overcome the long curse in the Hutcheson at Gulfstream.

#8 HARD SPUN - Crushed the competition in all 4 starts including the Grade 3 Lecomte in last start. Will be taking the Arkansas route next up in the $250,000 Southwest Stakes.

#9 STORMELLO - Strong 2 year old season ended with a win in the Grade 1 Hollywood Futurity. Will ship to Gulfstream Park for his 3-year-old debut March 3 in the Grade 2, $350,000 Fountain of Youth.

#10 E Z WARRIOR - Undefeated after 3 starts including the San Miguel and the Grade 3 Hollywood Juvenile.

#11 GRAPELLI - Came flying late to grab 3rd in the Grade 2 San Rafael. Figures to get better with more distance.

#12 BELGRAVIA - Was 4th beaten only 1 1/2 lengths in G1 Hollywood Futurity. Should love more distance.

#13 BUFFALO MAN - Won 3 stakes in a row including the $100k Ocala Breeders at 8.5f on February 12.

#14 CURLIN - Blew their doors off by 12 3/4's at Gulfstream in debut.

#15 ZANJERO - Came up just short in G3 Risen Star. Has talent and should move forward.

Well...Full Card had TEUFLESBERG ($48.80) the 2nd pick in the race and the Value Odds play with the PACE edge. It will be interesting to see how far down HARD SPUN falls and if TEUFLESBERG makes the list. I think he should get a good placing for beating a decent field.

Hardspun moved down to 14th, Teuflesberg enters the list at 16. I think a mile is his top though.

#14 HARD SPUN - Crushed the competition in all of his first 4 starts including the Grade 3 Lecomte in last start. His big test came in the $250,000 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park on February 19. Hard Spun got the bad outside draw of post 9 and was forced to raced wide throughout. He could not catch the early lead but did make a move against slow fractions on the final turn. Nothing went his way in this race and he finished 4th. He really needed to overcome these obstacles to keep his ranking. He drops out of the top 10

#15 ZANJERO - Came up just short in G3 Risen Star. Has talent and should move forward.

#16 TEUFLESBERG - Pulled a shocker in the $250k Southwest Stakes in a gate to wire victory beating the undefeated Hard Spun among others on February 19 at Oaklawn. Previously he finished 3rd to that foe in the Grade 3 Lecomte at Fair Grounds. This son of Johannesburg seemed to be just a sprinter with all of his success coming in 6f to 7f distances but perhaps he is a bona fide miler as well. The classic distance is still a big question however.
