Several of the poker sites are accepting deposits from members using prepaid Visa cards, aka Visa gift cards. These can be purchased in denominations from $50 to $250 at most major checkout stands, for a fee of around $4.

It may be that other wagering sites would also accept such funding, although I do not know that to be a fact.

Sounds kind of desperate to me....

And how are you supposed to make a withdrawal? By check I suppose? Are banks in the US going to honor said checks?

Like PA says...the funding is easy. It is the withdrawals that are the problem.

How could a withdrawal be a problem for anyone? Check, cashiers check, wire transfer, etc. Getting money out of even the most questionable of books has rarely been a problem. The problem is funding.

Tell that to the people who had money in Neteller.

I myself have given up on the offshore books (and rebates) and am going back to Youbet.

Tell that to the people who had money in Neteller.

Really? Why would there be a problem withdrawing money from Neteller?

Neteller has frozen the accounts of US residents.

The problem is funding.

Maybe electronically. Money orders and Western Union are just a couple of many options available to fund an account.

Neteller has frozen the accounts of US residents.

Wow, I hadn't realized that it went as far as restricting withdrawals. I just thought you couldn't transact with offshore gaming sites anymore.

Prosecutors seize funds from NETeller
http://money.cnn.com/2007/02/08/news/international/bc.neteller.fbi.reut/?postversion=2007020809

"As a result of the restrictions placed by third parties, court-ordered seizures, and related legal concerns, the group is currently unable to make payments to U.S. customers," said NETeller. To my knowledge not a single Neteller EFT withdrawal for a US member has been processed since Jan 15. During that time Neteller customer support personnel have been lying to us by saying things like "we are experiencing volume backlogs" or "it's just a technical problem." It looks like the truth is Neteller was trying to pay us but our own government stepped in and seized funds in while they were in transit.

Neteller Press Release 02/08/2007
http://www.neteller-group.com/press/en/124.htm
On 19 January 2007, at the request of the Group, the Group’s legal advisers met with representatives of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (“USAO”) to clarify the Group’s position with respect to the complaints brought on 16 January 2007 against two of the Group’s founders, Mr. Stephen Lawrence and Mr. John Lefebvre. Neither are current employees or directors of NETELLER. In that meeting, the Group pledged to cooperate with the USAO, indicated it was prepared to begin document production promptly and discussed a potential mechanism for arranging an orderly repayment of funds to US customers.

The discussions between the Group’s legal advisers and the USAO are ongoing. The Group is, under advice of its legal advisers, commencing production of documents and intends to cooperate with the USAO in its investigation. A lot of offshore sportsbooks have money tied up in Neteller. I shudder to think what "commencing production of documents" really means.

That is terrible news. I missed that big trifecta yesterday, but if I had known that NT actually froze payments out as well, I never would have wanted to use a third party (atm online).

Really bad news.
