they go through cycles: for a long time they were are Bold this or Bold that, Q-horses and standardbreds do the same.

I think it had less to do with creativity and more to do with piggybacking on a sire's name when breeding shed time comes around

The harness horses tend to have similar names because of artificial insemination. The horses are coming from fewer sires.
