Good test with no BS. Thanks for the link, Bala.

This also backed up and verified all the advice I received from Michiken in another thread. Great stuff and it helped alot.

It also clearly shows there is no single program that can trap all these pests.
Other testers give the impression that there is a "best" program and if users buy that they will be safe - they won't. AVG has absorbed Ewido, so may have better future results for free.

Hi Guys,

I ran across this post while checking my server logs.

The link above no longer works. When I posted the page I was extremely tired and incorrectly typed 20070115 as 20071015. I corrected in for posterity :)

The correct link is now: http://www.davescomputertips.com/Newsletters/20070115.php

I honestly don't have an interest in horse racing, but I greatly appreciate the comments!

Thank you for the kind words,
Dave H

Dave,

I didn't see NOADWARE in your test. It's a commercial product, that I think does a better job than ADAWARE in detecting spyware, adware, viruses, trojans etc.

I also like using the free SPYBOT software, because it is good in detecting the pesky malware that switches search pages....for example switching an original GOOGLE search to some lesser-known search engine site.

Bill:

You're probably right...I've got a glitch in my computer right now. The only site I can access is PACE ADVANTAGE...everything other URL I try lately just says ..."THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED"

Cool! keeps you out of trouble and gives you some good stuff to read :D

I have no idea what could be causing that - put out some feelers, maybe Ralph of one of the other windows gurus can help.

I get a kick out of the number of people that worry about spyware. Run a good anti-V: http://www.eset.com/ Don't open email attachments from people you don't know & stay away from most porn. (most)

Problem solved.

.....worry about spyware....." What?

Have you ever bought a CD or DVD from Sony Corporation? If you've played it on your computer you may have a rootkit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Sony_BMG_CD_copy_protection_scandal).

Have you ever shopped on Amazon, Ebay, Overstock, Macy's, etc....

Ever use Google, Yahoo, MSN search, etc....

Have you ever done a fresh install of xp sp2? Three known pieces of spyware come bundled with Micro$haft's software.......

You most definitely have {what many who value privacy} spyware.

Has a teen in your household ever downloaded music from any source?

Have you ever used BitTorrent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent) to swap large handicapping files with your buddies? {this in no way implies I do this}
