Ripped from the braintrust that is Pirate Bay Bit Torrents. It'll be a race for acquisition.

If its a viable idea, and I'd suggest it isn't, it would be wise(r) not to tip the current US Attorney that's planning an indictment.

No doubt he's in front of a Federal Judge waiving a copy of the NY Post around.

They should name the capital "Rebate City".

I'd go with Fuckusa.

The national anthem should be "Camptown Races".

I just read an article on Sealand. Funny how this guy is thinking of it.

Their congress should be called The Secretariat.

I first read about it here

http://www.wired.com/news/business/0,36749-0.html

and at the time (2000) they mentioned gambling as one of several possible ideas to get it going.
If the Sealand deal doesn't go through, there are still dozens of micronations around. ( http://www.micronations.net/ )

I love this stuff :)

We'd probably end up labeling them as a new member of the axis of evil, and invade them.

Sometimes I feel like I'd like to buy my own country. I'm certainly tired of this one and the alternatives range for similar to worse.

I'd go with Fuckusa.

Is that the traditional spelling?

If push came to shove, Sealand would be considered part of the UK or Scotland.

The Sealand website has an extensive history of the "country" including the "Battle of Sealand" that they won because a UK court said the British didn't have jurisdiction.

Are you trying to be an ass? Obviously, I've already read over this thread (see my reply immediately BEFORE yours) and evidently I did NOT delete said post.

But thanks for taking the role of temporary Deputy Sheriff. I can always use the help.

The only benefit of buying Sealand over starting your own country is that they're already legally accepted as being a country. I don't know if the benefit is worth a billion dollars though.

Here's a quote from the article:

"We would need to go the full route and get diplomatic recognition, so that we can be sure no outside source can intervene in our affairs."

As long as no one thinks they have WMDs they should be OK.
