Looking for 2 Ray Taulbot books.................
"Pace and Composite Handicapping"
"Racing Angles"
They are pretty rare, but if anyone has them and would like to part with them, PLEASE, let me know.
Cecil
I guess they are actually "booklets"

I sold my copies of these on ebay in July. (They went for $52 apiece). I haven't seen them before or since on ebay.

Interestingly, in Pace and Composite Handicapping the pace chart used:
each 1/5 of second is 4 points at 5 furlongs and 2 points at a mile and a quarter - this is 25 years before Beyer!

Taulbot was the master. His pace formula has made me more money than any other factor in racing. My advice is to buy anything you can get your hands on that he authored.

Does anybody have the old Talbout Plastic pace calculator? I use to have one, but now I can not find it.

Don't need anything. I wasn't sure if it was a figment of my imagination. It's just nobody has ever mentioned it that I know of and so thought I'd see if anyone actually had one.

Thanks for the reply.

Handi,
I started with the slide rule then got the software...serves me very well.
I think the ideas figs it generates are so old they are kinda forgotten about.
It got me a win in the TVG online and a qualifier for the NHC last week.
I totally crapped out in las vegas...got caught up in all the whoopla and did a 180 from my game plan. Started forcing 20-1 and up shots, because, that's what others I admired said to do....oh well...live and learn

Does it use Procaps?
Make it's own track varients? (That's what used to take the most time)
Any kind of updates?
I've still got the (taped-up) war torn, slide rule.

My slide rule is battered and war torn also..but, damn it still works.
I really don't know if it uses pro caps..
You do need to adjust for variants and there are no updates.
It gives you a pretty basic number for contender selection and then the handicapping is up to you. I also use CJ's figs in my capping...when the two programs click, I fire.

I used to use the software with tsn files just by renaming them to a DRF file. Don't see why the same thing can't be done with a procaps file.

The only difference between tsn file and procaps file, is the procaps file has a procap's power number and I believe a race class number too. It also has class numbers for each horse. Other than that and the obvious price, the files are the same.
