View Full Version : Video - my peeve and resolution for 2007

I don't get the logic of the racetrack owners. The video to the races at every track should be free on each track's site. They are trying to sell a product and have no idea how. I will no longer bet on races where I don't get a video (well, not quite, I bet NY when I only get audio - and the announcers apparently have no idea that anyone is listening on audio because all I hear is how much so and so is ahead - but that's another peeve).

If I went to Santa Anita's site today and they let me watch their product, I'd be in there like a dirty shirt.

Now, I live in Canada, so can't sign up with brisbet or youbet. I am forced into HPI - which is pathetic. They have video for some Canadian tracks (when it works), but nothing else. I complain they tell me to get HPI-TV. Well, I can't get HPITV on my cable system, so no luck there. And I don't particularly want to watch the races on TV, I want to watch them on the computer, so I can also keep track of other tracks and make my wagers. I bet enough that the least they should do is let me watch them. If they can't at least do that, they should reenact the races in my living room.;)

The NFL has a product. They make sure I can see it. That gets my interest. The racetracks have a product, I have the money to support it. But they don't seem to want it. Can you imagine people in Vegas running a casino that way. I'd be given booze, food, rooms, tickets to shows. Have any of these people got a clue?

HPI has Turfway, SA, Tampa, Aqu, Philly, Australia, Hong Kong etc., many UGH! harness tracks so tell it like it is before knocking them....

Bancek,

I hear what you are saying ,Youbet does offer a monthly fee I believe to be $10.95 for live streaming of most tracks, but again it is a fee.
HPI the thing that ticks me off when they show Australian racing and show their races before any North American track! especially when the pools are so small,if HPI were smart, key word is IF,why would they not allow live streaming of any of the tracks available through HPI bet ?

answer to HPI: get Bell Express Vu....That's what I did when the cable company refused to carry racing

As I said in my last message, I want the video on the computer.
What do I do when HPI refuses to give free video feeds like Brisbet and Youbet do?

you've seen calracing.com right? it's free for anyone and it has live streams of NoCal and SoCal tracks.. very good quality too.

replays are available as well... HPI must be working with trackus to provide some kind of replay feature for WO in 2007. I'm hoping they will improve the webpage for betting as well.. We can't get any info on past bets..

Banacek, not quite live, but NYRA, all CHDN tracks & all CA tracks can be seen a few minutes after each race. No charge whatsoever, but perhaps a free registration is sometimes required.

NYRA.com-- all NY tracks

Calracing.com--all CA tracks

Individual track sites for CHDN properties

Hope this helps.

Thanks I've used those, but racing kind of loses its appeal when the race is over and BRIS has already told me the results before I can actually watch the race.

1. Calracing.com is live for SA, HP, GG and BM, so it's definitely a viable option.
2. Magna Entertainment accepts Canadian customers for their video feed....$10.99/month gets you whatever MEC tracks are running. GP, LRL, SA and GG currently

Banacek,

You can watch tracks like Ct,Ded,Mnr,Tam,Sam H and others running live here
http://espn.go.com/horse/liveracing06.html

Philly you can get live here
http://www.philadelphiapark.com/live_video.php

That Cal racing joint is live also as was mentioned. There you can grab the Nocal and Socal tracks

Thanks to all for their suggestions and links. It is appreciated! :)

My main point in posting is why it has to be so difficult to watch a
@#$**%^% race on the internet. I think that goes back to marketing.

If I was in the US and used BRISBET, I'd get to watch the races FREE on the internet and have an betting interface which would allow me to keep track of my wagers.

I am in Canada. On the internet I get to watch some (not even all of them) Canadian tracks, no US tracks and I get a betting interface which is clunky at best and the next day has no memory of my wagers (Well, a lot of days that might be a good thing;) ). I think it stinks and they could do better.

I want to support the Canadian tracks. I'll even take a crappy rebate - I want to support the horsemen (and women!) at Woodbine and Hastings, et al. But they need to try harder. They are certainly spending money on the new track surface (Trakus and poly). And that's good.

But now it is time to throw a few basics to the customers. Get an improved betting interface. Get some video. I am sure that if the HPI site offered video for more tracks they would have more betting on those tracks. And isn't that what they want? Or are they just happy now that they have slots?

I agree Banacek. I live in B.C. and I have to scour the internet for video feeds of the tracks I'm playing. HPI should be offering video of the tracks they carry. Why should I have to pay for a sattelite or other package so I can see the races I'm betting on. Let's face it, if you can't see the races, you are at a a huge disadvantage.

has an investment in HPITV that you are
going to subsidize wether you like it or not!
Initially a joint venture with Greenwood Racing
in the USA known as TRN I believe.
I only bet what i can watch, deny me
access to your signal and you loose my action.
Smart business people would be giving it away!
HPITV forces me to miss complete and timely
post parades, cuts from track to track and
forces me to endure the jugheads.
Yes, they do offer a NYRA exclusive feed at
an additional cost. I preffer to play the small
tracks, Turfway etc. This is almost impossible
to do from home if you value pre race inspection
of your runner.
