It's appropriate to have a Belmont Stakes winner on the Aqueduct inner track this January, as it will be spring time in NY all week long, with temps expected in the 60s by Saturday....

Jazil Entered in Aqueduct Allowance Race Friday (http://racing.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=36905)
Shadwell Stable’s Jazil, the 2006 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner, will make his first start since when he breaks from the outside post in a field of eight in Aqueduct’s eighth race on Friday, a $48,000 second-level allowance at 1 1/16 miles. Thanks for the news.

I've written a little something with that inspiration. It is ,perhaps,my greatest work.

-----------------

Such good news......I've not heard in a while

Too my face it brings a smile

A huge fav of mine.....though not exactly a gazelle

But he always will be Jazil

To and fro....don't ya know

He and.....

....Oh forget it....maybe it's not my greatest.

But thanks again.

This is one of those races, is it a prep, or do they want some extra cash?

This is so true.

I would think it has all the markings of a prep.http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/images/UBGX/S8.gifhttp://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/images/UBGX/S8.gif

But I think he will win.

Of course the PPs would help.http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/images/icons/icon1.gif

McLaughlin is 20% 1st layoff and 22% on the drop with a positive ROI and I still can't bring myself to bet on a grade one winner coming back in a non-winners of 3 optional claimer. May win, but I'm going against him. :)

I would go against him too. I havent followed how the track's been playing this week, but if it is favoring early speed as usual you may find better value elsewhere in the field. I bet Jazil in the derby even though I knew closers werent doing all that hot in Churchill routes last spring, so hopefully i've learned my lesson. Most likely i'll blow the wad on everyone else in the field and he will win by 5. Slow fractions or not, Jazil put in one of the most spectacular closing performances in the Wood Mermorial last year that I have ever seen.

I'd bet Take the Bluff (2) over the layoff on that speed favoring track.

I'm still staying with Jazil....even though no one has furnished the PPs.

Excellent emoticonal use...by the way.

Well ya know,Bill, I took him to win the derby as well....hoping the old speed duel burn up would gas the favs, but it didn't work out that way. Did take him to win the Belmont much to the disdain of the Jazil haters....who are legion.....don't ya know.

The Wood was a sizzler...no question. It reminded me of DollarBilly in the Preakness coming from Pat Day land to fly down the stretch.....hoping there was another sixteenth to go.

That didn't quite work out either, but it was fun watching him.

Oh...and I am only projecting Jazil to win out of blind loyalty.I am not betting 2:5 nor do I advocate such a thing.

I don't think Jazil is ready to win.

only from the charts today - the track seems pretty fair. A couple closed , a couple horses wired...

Jazil is has seemed like a delicate horse to me. He has been talented enough vs the 3yo crop to come in at less than 100% training and still win. Almost better with some light treatment.

Jazil bled through the lasix in the fountain of youth and I let that, and some light work schedule scare me away in the Belmont Stakes.

I think Jazil wins today if Cheif Speed or Shmooo do not come up very big. Plenty of speed today, no other strong closers, and that work 12/10 looks like Jazil still has it when asked.

See what kind of odds he gets...

Looking at the tote at 3 minutes to post time, this is probably the first time I've ever been able to call a 3/5 shot "dead on the board"

Scintilating.

Well...how far back did he come from? How many lengths did he lose by. Was he driving or merely passing tiring Ravens....I mean rivals.

It was about as scintillating as a Browns / Bills match up. Jazil was so far behind, when the rest of the field was shrouded in fog, he was still getting a call. He was also an easily beaten second.

The "scintilating" was my reaction to Krispy's great race rundown.

He's not much for words anymore since the Family had him infiltrate the FBI.

So by your description Jazil still has that great closing ability.Had this been his second race after the layoff you'd be rewriting that primer for beginners.

Maryland got hosed left out of the BCS NC game!

The Ravens may get hosed for BEING in a championship game.

Unbettable win odds 0.45 /1 exchange odds around even

I guess it was a decent show bet for 5% on the dollar.

I passed.

watching the replay , Take The Bluff had a dream trip -none of the possible speed horses showed any speed.
Not a bad prep for a longer distance.

Thanks for the youtube replay

Mums the word,Krispy.....=:>.

You are a swell board buddy for supplying the video showing RagTop to be a BIG LIAH!

At first I thought it was a race where all the horses were Invisible Ink.That's a nice graphic here of how the race looked.

Anyhooo...Jazil looked very snappy to me.He appeared to be something over 10 lengths behind...uh....somewhere in the race. Then he overcomes that and goes 5 or 6 wide on the last turn and closes down on the winner to lose by only 2.....and that poor horse was being severely flogged by that sadist on his back.

BIG RED
01-05-2007, 06:29 PM
I watched him and guess it was a prep. They show a back shot entering the last turn before the stretch. I seen, live, the jock just lean into him to their left in the turn, I guess to see what he would do. He reacted very well, started to stride then. Looked like practice, testing to see if he was ready to start racing again. Of course, a horse like him, can prep and still win against them. Total pass for me.

Simply an in race workout. There just happy they got a race into the horse. Would expect a trip back down to Florida for the Gulfstream Handicapp.

I was thinking ...this would have been a great day at Aqueduct to have a race in which the particpants would have been :

1...LostInTheFog

2...InvisibleInk

3...GhostZapper

4...CatThief ( he could steal this race and never get caught)

5...the poster LIGHT ( he could lead the way....for a change)

6...lets not forget Claude Raines would be Inky's jockey

7...Giacomo ( we never could see him anyways)

8...the Baltimore Ravens offense ( see above )

9..Andrew Sirloin ( I know it doesn't make sense,but pretend it's a stakes race)

10..Fog Fazio
