I don't think I've ever made one before, but I decided about a month ago to quit smoking, and decided to hold off until after the Holiday stresses...so today will be my last day as a smoker.

I'm going cold turkey, it should get easier after I make the first week or so. Wish me luck, I'll likely need it!

As much as I like smoking, I've smoked for 10 years now and decided it's time to try life without cigarettes.

Me today:
Me tomorrow: :(
Me in a week:
Me in a month: :jump:

Anyone else shaking things up in the coming year?

Good lluck, CH.
Qutting smoking wass the hardest thing I ever did, even though I did it about 30 times! I only smoked 10 years as well.

It was HELL!

But hang in there - it was the most rewarding thing I ever did too. I have no regrets. Today, I can sit next to a smoker and not even be aware of the smoke.

As for me, I am going to avoid getting into "discussions" with the knuckleheads on this forum. Way too many of them, and they are not worth the effort. My IGGY list is going to grow exponentially. The ones I have added recently have made life so much more rewarding! Suprising how you don't miss the drivel.

2007 is going to be the year of the HORSE, not the HORSE'S ASS.

Win more money while working less hours, which could be hard.

Post no more than five times in off topics, which should be easy.

"Ménage à trois", with me the "un" male. (Hey, you can't keep all your resolutions!)

Best of luck! I did it 7 years ago with the help of Bupropion (Zyban - trademark name) - a real miracle drug in my case. No withdrawl symptoms for the first 2 months. After the prescription ran out, 16 months of hell. I'm not telling you this to discourage you, but rather hope that if you expect the worse, you will be in a better frame of mind to make it through those hard times. We're behind you!

I still have to lose the weight I gained from that experience  . I got to do that this year!

yeah Bill I'm going out to Costco today to load up on red licorice, corn-nuts, sunflower seeds, gum, and whatever else I can find to try and keep myself occupied...if I put on 20 lbs so be it! If nothing else it's a good excuse to eat junk food. ;)

Everyone out driving tonight, stay safe..

Exercise is a good antidote, definitely better than the junk food (it's easier to give advice than to follow it :D )

Also, Chicken, drinks "gallons" of water everyday. It actually helps to flush the nicotene out of your system.

Doing this the "hard way" (cold turkey) is probably the best way, also. If you really want to quit, then you'll stand a much better chance of succeeding.

I wish you the best,

I tried Zyban, it didn't work for me. I was very relaxed when I smoked. I finally was able to quit by switching to Kodiak chew. It satisfied my urge for Nicotine.

It took about 3 weeks to quit.

Buy yourself a case of TIC TACS ( its not as bad as Halls cough drops) , when you miss that cool air feeling taking 7 or 8 of them at one time helps. It provides you with a safe vice.

Next year then you can quit the TIC TACS.

Good Luck, You can do it if you really want it.

Twice in two years. Just re-cuoped from the 1st, and blam....

I would love to just get by 2007 'unhurt'. Not asking for much.

Now HERE is a resolution worth doing - put on a beer belly for 2007.
I can see this being useful at Saratoga! :jump:

November 14th I was rear-ended by a school bus, still in physio for that one. December 22nd I'm stopped, car behind me stops and the car behind her keeps going. Up until this point I have never been involved in an accident.

I busted my back 10 years ago (sport injury) and had major surgery to repair. Being rear ended twice like that is no fun.

You can do this, I quit over 3 years ago, went Cold Turkey. Have not touched one since and my life and health has changed so much for the better.

I also used flavored toothpicks, Australian Chewing Sticks, they are available at Orgranic Grocery Stores and really helped me with my craves.

Hang in there, it DOES get easier. You may want to visit quitnet.com, they have forums, clubs and a chat room with lots of free support.

Happy New Year to all.

Cold Turkey! I tryed that and they were hard to light up.

I quit around 20 years ago. (COLD TURKEY) Now if I can live for another 69 years it will be all worth the effort. May have to start sprinkling Viagra on my corn flakes every morning. So I can do what the young boys are doing. Quit horse racing and throwing away my money. I knew I was becoming old when me and my teeth starting sleeping in a different pace.
