Any idea how to keep the navigation panel always hidden?

Right click on navigation panel and select hide.
Can also be done from View menu bar at top.

You can use a pdf creator program (Google for them) and reset the file to your own requirements, or, within Adobe 8 go to Edit Menu, select Preferences, then select Full Screen tick box.

May I suggest an alternate reader. I use foxit reader which is a free program that takes up less than a third of the size of Adobe

A lot of sites have the 'need adobe reader' to open what you want to see. Does this foxit work there, does it kick right in?

Yolu might have to initially tell your computer ( like they ever listen!) what program to use fo files of that type from now on.

Did not quite follow your suggestion, no Full Screen tick box visible. Thanks.
