Fargo track manager wants new betting on old horse races
Called "instant racing," the game uses $10,000 video terminals to allow horseplayers to bet on races that have already been run, although the bettor does not know the track, the date, or the names of the horses in the field.
...instant racing uses a video terminal, with access to stored video of thousands of horse races that have already been run at tracks across the country. A gambler does not know which race he is betting on. Instead, he views information normally used by handicappers, including data on the performance of horses and jockeys taking part in the race, before making his wager.
Once the bet is placed, the machine begins showing video of the actual race, and gamblers find out whether they won or lost. Lynch said players may watch the entire race, or only the home stretch.
