I asked this over in the dicussion section because I thought it was youbet. I was having problems with video and audio in youbet, so asked, and a couple of guys said they did too, over the weekend. Here it is wed. and am still getting froze vid after maybe 30 secs/gurglled audio.
I have a new computer, set up, but it is two weeks old now and didn't have any problems whatsoever. Did I touch something? When I set up, I downloaded the new WMP11 from the start, but it worked fine? I can't figure it out. Unless youbet still is having problems? Any suggestions on what to check? I went and looked at movie trailers and such, no problems.

what kind of ISP.
cable
fiber
dsl ?
if it is just the vid, id suspect your service, your speed could fluctuate.
meaning, now you have IT, now you DON'T.

I'm having audio problems with U bet as well. Win 11 is working just fine every where else. i think the problem is on their end.

DSL, everything else is nice and smooth/fast
They won't admit it, but the problems started with the new "WagerPadPro". That download causes the video to freeze and then the picture/audio buffering crashes the systems. The bet pad program may have some bugs in it. JMHO.

Maybe it is youbet. Mine sounds like the computer in War Games, but worse.

What's with that tiny blurry race pic with YouBet. It's postage stamp sized and looks like it's snowing.

try increasing the amount your Media Player buffers.............but remember..........this means you are behind the actual "post time" even more. So you can't rely on the video announcements or the video itself because it will be delayed..........

Still stinks. Just sent a mail to them, I will dump them, this is aggravating

i hope you have it corrected by now.
but, if not, everything else may be alright, but if you do not have enough "Speed" then the picture will not hold. bet site will work but later will not work. due to lack of Speed.
if on windows site, easy enough to check.
ive had the cable people telling me i was getting what they were saying, yet when i measured the Speed myself (thru windows) i found "the speed was way way too low".
i switched to fiber optics w/ 5 times the speed at a lower rate. works GREAT.

You can check your connection speed with a few mouse clicks in WinXP.
Click in this order -
Start
Control Panel
Network Connections
Internet Connection
You should then see a pop up box titled Internet Connection Status.
In the Internet Gateway box you have three specs listed. Status tells if
you are currently conected, Duration tells you how long you have had
an uninterupped connection and Speed tells your connection speed in
Mbps.

How do you check it thru windows? If you right click on the task bar and click on Task Manager then Network it should give you your speed.
I have Bell South and they have a page for checking your modem. You may want to see what your provider offers.

you are probably reading the speed of your network card, and not your connection..............
punch "speed test" into google and go out and run a few tests.
do it at different times of the day and come up with an average. Then decide whether you are slow or not...........the speed test sites will give you numbers to compare with............

again, sorry for not getting back.
try this site, (bandwithplace.com) and you most likely need a speed around 500k, with 300k, you'll get what you discribe.
at 5MB, you're doing great.
great point "trying at off peak and on peak" from Ralph.
to give you an idea, mostly, with a cable, others will draw from the power you need and this shows up when others on your line start using theirs. you lose the speed randomly.
a fiber optic gives you one steady flow without interruption. could be cheaper also.

it said 781 KB ? good?

yes, over 500k, you should have no problem.
except, if you get a lot of draw from neighbors, if you get down in the 300k area, problem should pop up.

Red;
let me add, because i had problems, that the cable people would tell me " i received the speed they were suppose to give me", they were saying they could tell the actual speed at the very time i was taking to them. they may be able to tell the speed, but then they were lieing to me .
if using 'youbet', i think you said, they should be willing to work out you situation over the phone.
at least you know your speed for now, but it still may vary.
