I've never really studied quarter-horse racing to any great extent as far as predictability, but I can't see putting any significant amount of money (especially of the bridge-jumping category, and even if it's "only" to show rather than to win) on any horse in a race that's going to be over that quickly. It seems to me that, if anything goes wrong, you're done for, and there's just too great a chance of that.

In my long career of handicapping and calling qh races, (the race above was actually a stakes race for paint horses, but still a short distance meaning "break or if you don't you're dead") I have very seldom seen bridge jumping on QH races for the reason you stated above...The fav got jostled around at the break, and poof!! 50K to show out the window!! LOL Boom

Princess Rooney @ CRC had similar scenario with bridgejumper earlier this year... mindboggling when you see it on the board... does track offer counseling for show bettors???

avatar is Secretariat cribbing at Claiborne November 5, 1985.

I sent this to Mrs. Tweedy after his death and she sent me her favorite shot and a nice letter which I have framed on the wall.
