Calder track management has barred jockey Rene Douglas from the grounds for an unspecified reason, notifying Douglas of the action during Friday's card.

"Calder Race Course has refused Rene Douglas access to the racetrack for an indefinite period of time as of the close of business on Friday based on our rights as a private property owner," said Calder's president, Ken Dunn. "We have no further comment on the matter at the moment."

Douglas also refused to comment on the situation when reached in the paddock just before Friday's last race.

It's someone every year, last year Ken tossed out Cruz, and now he's back!

I just hope Douglas sticks around for two weeks and rides the Gulfstream meet, who really cares about Calder anyway!

You may not like Calder but if he was booted it was for a good reason.Just like the juice trainers that are doing things wrong,If he was doing something wrong then he deserves this action.Calder may have small pots but our racing is clean.

I doubt anybody blames Calder for trainers cheating but you've got to be kidding with comments like " our racing is clean ".

Just how naive do you think the populace of this board is?

Has anybody heard why he was banned? Saw him win a race last week at Calder in which the saddle slipped way forward and he was right up on the horse's neck. No problem, he won anyways. Talentwise, Rene can ride with anybody although it seems he has burned a few bridges.

Love to watch Rene ride @ AP as he knows the nuance of the track as well as Wayne Newton knows the west side of Vegas.

Rumor mill has it the story is not pretty and will be disclosed on 2'sday

Rene did ride AP as good as Gomez, Guidry, Fires or Day did. He was doing pretty good in SoCal when he went out there in 2004. Some interesting speculation on some other boards but at this point its only speculation.

Wasn't Manny Cruz banned from Calder earlier in the year?

Bout a year ago he was barred for 23 d's on the grounds of "exhibiting careless and dangerous riding"

Meyer Lansky just got a nice chuckle in his knowing of "Calder antics"

What a joke. Maybe the horseman might think so but the problem is in the pools. They are the worst track in the country when it comes to late batch money coming into the pools AFTER the gates open. Watch the odds drops at the quarter pole, and the half mile pole when a front running type gets his preferred position.
