79 years old, died today.

he is the guy that invented the "jump shot".

as you know, the scores were very low back in his college days, but he held the one game scoring record (75 or 85 points?) broken ( i believe, by the guy from LSU 'with the socks') by a great player himself, Pete Maravitch(?).

I was very sorry to hear this. I know his two sons Chris and Michael Arizin. Both also played ball as well.

ELA;

ya, thanks for the spell-up.
i doubt that many today would believe he scored that much, held the record for a long time.
i saw one of his sons play, not at villanova, but i forgot where.

"pitching Paul" was in the same realm as Fosbery (with his flop idea).

I didn't even realize the spelling. Anyway, I called his son Chris today and left a message on his voice mail. I've only met Mike once or twice, but Chris I've been around and have worked with. They are both good guys.
